The
Felhunter is an ideal pet to use when fighting casters, most notably
because of the Spell Lock - the ability to Counter's the enemies
spell cast, preventing any spell from that school of magic from being
cast for 6 seconds. While not being able to tank as well as the
Voidwalker, it will last a little longer than the Succubus, and is
about the same in damage ability. More of a situational pet and
summoned when near casters, the Felhunter can come in very handy.
One of the
Felhunter spells (ability) that can get a few Warlocks unstuck is
Devour Magic, mostly the "what does it remove and from who" part.
Devour Magic can not be put on auto-cast (by right clicking the
ability on the pet bar), so you have to cast it manually each time.
When you need to remove an effect, simply target who you need to
remove it from and left click the ability, if the spell was purged,
your Felhunter will regain some health. Now, what does it remove?
Use it on
a friendly target, that is yourself, a group member or another
player of the same faction, it will remove anything harmful. For
example : Roots, DoT's, or anything else that will restrict or cause
damage to a player.
Use it on
an enemy target, that is a mob you are fighting or a member of the
opposite faction, and it will remove anything that is beneficial to
them. For example if you are fighting a mob that can place a damage
shield on itself, you can use Devour Magic to remove it, same goes
if you are fighting a Paladin mob and they put that annoying bubble
up, get the Felhunter to eat it and voila, you can keep pounding
away.
So
anything that can hurt you, or help an enemy, the Felhunter will
happily try to remove, and who knows, might even heal himself up in
the process.
Other
Felhunter information:
-
Using
Tainted Blood to reduce the attack power of mobs will help the
Felhunter tank quite well.
-
It has
been said that manually casting Devour Magic and Spell Lock can help
taunt mobs.
-
Leave
Spell Lock on manual cast as the Felhunter can jump the gun a bit
and waste the ability before the mob has started casting.
Talents that will effect / improve the Succubus:
-
Unholy Power : Demonology talent that increases the damage done
by your Succubus' melee attacks.
-
Fel Intellect : Demonology talent that increases the maximum
mana of your Succubus.
-
Fel Stamina : Demonology talent that increases the maximum
