 Warlock
F.A.Q.
Warlocks were
mages that delved too deeply into the roots of demonic power. Consumed
by a lust for dark knowledge, they've tapped into chaotic magic from
beyond the world. The Burning Legion now feeds them its powers, allowing
them to channel destructive energies and call upon the powerful
emissaries of their demon masters.
The Warlock is
a more involved class to play than most other classes. Warlocks have
pets, many different spell combos, and a reagent component requirement
for some of their spells. This means that playing a Warlock takes a bit
more learning than some of the more straightforward classes. The Warlock
has a lot of very cool and fun abilities including Eye of Kilrogg, Fear,
Pets, and more. The Warlock is a very fun class to play once you figure
things out.
|
Warlocks have both powerful damage
spells (primarily dealing over time) and debuff spells that work
well in conjunction with each other and with the abilities of their
group mates. They have Curses for many occasions; in fact, they can
easily be considered the best debuffers in the game. Their pets,
too, help with the damage dealing and grant the Warlock extra
abilities to put to use. They can also control crowds well with
Seduction and Banish, and provide limited support in the form of
their summoned stones. We're not telling you how to play the game -
one of the fascinating practices of this genre is the ingenuity
exercised by the players every day! |

General
What races can play as a Warlock?
You have four choices as a Warlock ~ Orc and Undead on the Horde side,
with Human and Gnome on Alliance.
What type of armor do I get to wear?
Cloth armor (normally in the form of a robe) is what you'll be fitted
with. No leather or chain for us fashion conscious.
What about weapons,
what sort can we use?
Warlocks start out with daggers, and can learn staves and one-handed
swords at trainers. We can not learn single or two-handed maces,
two-handed swords, single or two-handed axes, polearms, fist or any
ranged item other than a wand.
What stats
does a Warlock look for?
Most Warlocks
will go for either a heavy Intelligence, or heavy Stamina build. Spirit
isn't as beneficial to Warlock as it is to other classes, however don't
necessarily over look it completely. The reason some Warlocks will go
all out for Stamina instead of Intelligence, is with the ability to
convert out health into mana, the more hit points you have, means the
more mana you have. Also great for tanking and for using Health Funnel
to heal your pet.
What class
duo's best with a Warlock?
Hybrid healers
go really well with Warlocks, such as Shamans, Druids or Paladins. A
Shadow spec'd Priest will also work well, however Mage's, with their
extremely fast fighting style may not suit the best. Also Warriors and
other classes tend to like being healed, something we can not do apart from
our stones. Overall though, any combination can work, some just take a
little more practice than others.
Spells
What types of spells do we get?
Warlocks have a bit of variety, however we
specialize in DoT's (Damage over Time) and Curses. Predominantly a
damage class, we do have a couple of buffs and of course not forgetting
the range of pets to assist us.
So Warlocks can buff?
Although not a buffing class, we do have a
couple which come in useful. With the ability to give ourselves a small
buff, we can cast a spell to allow players to breath underwater for a
period of time.
Are Curses stackable?
A single Warlock can not put multiple
curses on the same mob, however multiple Warlocks can stack curses. For example
two Warlock's could put Curse of Agony on a
mob each, or alternatively, the second put Curse of Weakness on.
Can I assist in crowd control?
We are able to assist with crowd control
using the spell "Banish", however the spell is very limited,
only effecting Summoned or Elemental Creatures. The Succubus can help assist with crowd
control if you are fighting Humanoids using her seduce spell which temporarily mezzes the target, when
using this spell however the Succubus does not attack any other
creatures.
Do I have healing spells?
We are able to heal ourselves by draining
life from mobs we are fighting, or using a healthstone. However to heal
other's we need to create a healthstone for the player to click
themselves.
What are the damage spells I get?
DoT's are the major damage line we get,
Corruption, Immolate are just some examples. DD's or Direct Damage play
a small role in our spell list along with a couple of Area Effect
spells.
What spells are affected by shadow damage
items?
Corruption, Death Coil, Drain Life, Drain
Soul, Shadow Bolt, Shadowburn, Siphon Life are all shadow based spells
and will be effected by items that increase shadow damage.
How many of those summons do I get?
Including pets, ritual of summoning, and
our steed we get a total of 8 summoning spells.
How many summons can I have out at once?
You can only have 1 pet out at a time. You
can however leave your pet up if you summon the Felsteed.
I want to know more please.
Sure! For a complete up to date list of
our spells, have a look
here.
This link is also located off the main page and off the
forums for future reference.
What are curses and how do they work?
The Warlock has several types of curses and it is up to the player to
decide what is best for the particular situation. Curses can only be
cast on the enemy. You can only have one curse active at a time on a
monster, however multiple Warlocks can stack different curses,
for example one Curse of Weakness and one Curse of Agony on the same mob. The last curse you cast will override the previous curse on the
monster. All
curses are instant cast spells and can be resisted with shadow
resistance.
Curse of Weakness -
Damage caused by the target is reduced. This is useful in shorter
battles.
Curse of Recklessness - Lowers the target's armor and slightly
increases its attack power. Makes the target immune to fear as well,
both all fear-spells and the automatic running off with 15% health, very
useful in dungeons.
Curse of the Elements - Curses the target, reducing Fire and Frost
resistances by X for Y min. This ability is good to use when playing
with other casters who use those types of spells.
Curse of Agony - Curses the target with agony. Causes large damage
over time.
Curse of Shadow - Curses target, reducing Shadow and Arcane Resistance
by X for Y min. Only one Curse per Warlock can be active on any one
target.
Curse of Doom - Curses the target with impending doom, causing X
shadow damage after Y min. If the target dies from this damage, there
is a chance that a Doomguard will be summoned. Cannot be cast on
players (boo!)
Soul Shards
What are soul shards?
Soul shards are what Warlocks use to
summon nearly all our of our pets, or perhaps people as well as used in
creating our shards.
How do I obtain these shards?
Once you hit level 10, you purchase a spell called
Drain Soul,
which you use on mobs to obtain the shards. The spell is channeled so
when struck can be interrupted or shortened. You will only obtain a soul
shard off a monster that yields you experience, so anything that cons
green or above.
Can I get shards of Players?
At this stage you can't obtain shards off any PC, however
once
Battlegrounds go in, you will be able to obtain them upon an
honorable kill.
Can I get shards off someone else's kill if it gives
me experience?
If you are in a group with the other person, then yes,
you can obtain a soul shard from the mob they are killing. If however
you are not in a group, and the mob is already tagged, then it will not
yield you experience, thus you will not be able to obtain a shard from
it.
Can two people get a shard of the same mob?
Pretty much the same as above, if both Warlocks are grouped together,
then yes they can both obtain a shard of the same mob. If they are not
grouped, then one Warlock will see the mob as tagged and will not be
able to obtain a shard from it.
How are the shards stored?
Currently the are stored in any of your backpacks that
have room, and do not stack. At the time of writing this, Blizzard are
currently looking into changes regarding how the shards are stored, so
this could change.
So, once I get some shards, what can I use them in?
Since you obtain the Drain Soul spell at level 10, you
will mostly likely be using them most in your Healthstone's, also
obtained at level 10, as well as your Voidwalker once you complete the
quest. Later on in levels, shards are used to summon your Succubus and
Felhunter as well as Spellstones, Firestones and Soulstones. Some spells
require shards, for example our Ritual of Summoning and Enslave Demon,
Shadowburn and Soulburn also.
What do I do if I have no shards?
Luckily the trusty little imp does not require a shard to
be summoned, so easiest way is to take him into an area with green mobs
an collect a few shards.
Can someone else give me a shard?
Warlocks are the only classes that use shards, and
although things like our Healthstones are transferrable, the soul shards
are not. Unfortunately other Warlocks can not pass theirs on to you, nor
can you give out yours to another Warlock.
Shard UI's
There are heaps of
UI Modifications out there, and below is a list of just a few that
are related to Shards:
-
Shard
Tracker : This mod helps Warlocks to track how many soul shards you
have, sort your soul shards into a specified bag, keep track of your
healthstone status, create and use healthstones, give healthstones to
other players, track your party members' healthstone status, and be
notified when they need new healthstones....
-
Shard
Sort : Looks through your containers and moves soul shards into your
preferred bag. If you are a Warlock like me who keeps all of their
shards in one bag (as much as possible), then you might find this handy.
-
Shard
Status : Creates a draggable button displaying the number of soul
shards in a player's inventory, and the number of empty bag slots. The
green number at bottom right is the number of soul shards, and the white
number at top left is the number of open bag slots. Additionally,
clicking the button will delete a sould shard from inventory without a
confirmtion dialog.
-
Shard
count : It displays the information just like shardtracker but has
the small functionality of ShardStatus.
Stones
Firestones
What are Firestones?
Firestones are items you place in your off hand slot to
enchant your main hand item, such as a Dagger or Sword with the powre of
Fire. Each hit has the chance additional fire damage on top of your
melee attack. In addition, equipping the a Firestone increases the
damage done by fire spells. If logged out for more than 15 minutes, your
firestone will disappear.
Are Firestones transferable?
Unfortunately Firestones are soulbound, so can only be
used on yourself.
Can I get a Firestone to my pet?
Unfortunately, we can't give them to our pet to increase
their damage.
Are there multiple ranks of Firestone?
Yes, currently in game there is
Create
Firestone (Lesser) at level 28,
Create
Firestone at level 36,
Create
Firestone (Greater) at level 46 and
Create
Firestone (Major) at level 56,
Healthstones
What are Healthstones?
Healthstones will be something you will get used to
creating, they are instant cast heals that are on a separate timer to
potions and can be beefed up with Talents. These can be life savers when
you are soloing, and in a group people should never say no. Sometimes
people aren't always familiar with their use, so a little information
goes a long way. If someone rejects your healthstone in a group, just
explain politely that they are on different timers to potions, and might
come in handy if your groups healer is otherwise busy. You should always
give your healer a healthstone as they can sometimes get very high agro
with the mobs and may not always be able to get a heal off on
themselves, this may save their life. Be a good Warlock, look after your
healer.
Are Healthstones transferable?
Yes! In order to pass a healthstone to someone, create
your stone and locate it in your inventory, once found, left click on it
and then left click on the player you wish to pass it to. A couple of
things to remember is never pass a healthstone to someone in combat
unless in an extreme situation where it might help save their life.
After a big fight, or multiple adds, be sure to ask if anyone used their
stone and do they need another, and always watch your shard count, each
one of these uses a shard.
Do
they have to be a minimum level to use them?
Yes,
Healthstones do have a level requirement on them.
Can I
mail Healthstones to my alts?
No,
unfortunately all conjured items can not be mailed.
Can I get a Healthstone to my pet?
Unfortunately if your pet is being hurt a lot, the only
way to heal him is with your Health Funnel. As we can't pass items to
our pets, it is unable to use a Healthstone. You can however heal him
with the Funnel and then use the stone yourself.
Are there multiple ranks of Healthstones?
Definitely, and don't forget you can bump the amount
healed by each healthstone with the Improved Healthstone talent in the
Demonology tree. (It should be noted that the improved Healthstone only
effects yourself, it will not heal the extra amount if you pass them
out.) You start your healthstone ranks at level 10 with
Create
Healthstone (Minor), this is followed by
Create
Healthstone (Lesser) at level 22,
Create
Healthstone at 34,
Create
Healthstone (Greater) at 46 and
Create
Healthstone (Major) at 58
Soulstones
What are Soulstones?
Soulstones are used to store the soul of one target, when
that target dies, they have the option to release like normal, or
reincarnate. The buff you place on them once you use the stone lasts 30
minutes, if they die anytime in that 30 minutes they will have the
option to reincarnate. The Soulstone itself also has a 30 minute cool
down timer, this means that only one person every 30 minutes can have
the Soulstone buff on them. Choose carefully.
So who should I put the buff on?
Ultimately the choice is yours, however most people would recommend your
healer or the person who can rez. For Alliance you would usually put it
on your Priest, Paladin or Druid if you have one. If you have more than
one of those classes, I would probably place it on the Priest. For Horde
you have the option of your Priest, Shaman or Druid, and again, if more
than one I would put it on the priest. Obviously if you are soloing, you
would place it on yourself.
Are Soulstones transferable?
In a way, so to speak. Although you can't pass them to
someone, you place to buff of the stone on them.
How do I use the Soulstone?
In order to place the buff on someone, you need to create
the stone first. Below is a step by step process of using a Soulstone;
-
Ensure you have a Soulshard.
-
Use your summon Soulstone spell (highest rank you own)
-
Locate your Soulstone in your inventory
-
Target the player you wish to use the Soulstone on
-
Right click your Soulstone and wait until you see spell
effect on target.
Can I use a Soulstones to my pet?
Although you can place the buff on your pet, you
would never need to. If your pet dies, you can just resummon it,
and unless it's the imp, it's going to cost you a shard anyway.
Are there multiple ranks of Soulstones?
As with all the other stones, there are multiple ranks,
and with each higher rank, your target is restored with a higher amount
of health and mana.
Create
Soulstone (Minor) starts you off at level 18,
Create
Soulstone (Lesser) follows on at 30,
Create
Soulstone at 40,
Create
Soulstone (Greater) at 50 and finally
Create
Soulstone (Major) at 60.
Spellstones
What are Spellstones?
Spellstones, once summoned go into your off hand slot,
and when equipped improves your chance to get a critical strike with all
spells by 1%. If you right click the stone, it will remove all magical
effects, including all your buffs and absorb a set amount of magic damage for 1
minute. Note : It does not remove Soulstone buff.
Are Spellstones transferrable?
Like most of our stones, Spellstones are soulbound and
can only be used by the caster.
Can I use the Spellstones to my pet?
Unfortunately you can not target the effect on other
players or your pet.
Are there multiple ranks of Spellstones?
There are three ranks of Spellstones,
Create
Spellstone at 36,
Create
Spellstone (Greater) at 48 and
Create
Spellstone (Major) at 60.
Ritual of Summoning
What is Ritual of Summoning?
This is the ability given to Warlocks to summon a party member from
anywhere in game to their side. There is no limit on how far you can
summon someone, however you can not summon a party member into an
instance, you must first vacate the instance and then summon them.
How do I perform a Ritual?
In order to summon someone, you need to enlist in the assistance of two
other players, and both the two assistance and the person you are
summoning need to be in your group. In order to perform the ritual you ;
-
Ensure you have Soulshards, the Ritual requires one (1) shard for every
person you wish to summon.
-
Get your two assistants, and if in a major city, asking in general for
help will usually yield you a couple.
-
Get yourself and your helpers all together in the same spot.
-
Ensure both your helpers and your target are all in your group.
-
Select the person you wish to summon by clicking on their profile or
using the F keys.
-
Left click (or hit the corresponding number if hot keyed) your Ritual of
Summoning Spell.
-
If your helpers haven't already, ask them to right click the spell
effect that will appear in front of you. It is imperative that your two
helpers DO NOT move once they have clicked on the portal, if they
do, your ritual will fail. (You must also stand completely still)
-
Wait for your target to appear.
What
level do I have to be to use it?
As it's a
level 20 spell you must be level 20 or higher to use it.
Can I
summon a player of any level?
As far as
I am aware there is no minimum level you have to be when being summoned.
Do the
people helping have to be a minimum level?
As far as
I am aware there is no minimum level you have to be when assisting with
a summon.
Can I
use this to summon my pet if he gets stuck?
No, this
spell can only be used against a real player.
Can I
summon an NPC or Mob?
This
would make pulling very easy, but sadly not, the person being summoned
must be a real player.
Weapons
What weapon skills to Warlocks start out with?
All Warlocks start out able to use Daggers, Unarmed and Wands.
What other skills can Warlocks train in?
For a fee, Warlocks can train in Staves or Swords. We can only use 1
Handed Swords however and can not wield the larger 2 Handed versions,
nor can we use either 1 Hand or 2 Hand Maces, can not wield axes or any
other form of weapon.
Is there a level restriction on training in Staves or Swords?
There is no level restriction, however to train in each will cost you 10
silver.
Where can I train in Staves and Swords?
For Alliance, head to the Trade District in Stormwind. For Horde, you
can train in Thunderbluff. Once in your city, locate a guard and ask him
about Weapons Trainers, this will put a flag on your map with the
location of the trainer you need to see.
Can I use an off hand item with a weapon?
You can use an off hand item with both a Dagger or Sword, however as
staves are always two handed, you loose the ability to hold an item as
well.
Wands
Do wands use ammunition?
No wands do not use ammunition, nor do they use mana.
How do I use a wand?
Once you have found a wand, move it to your ranged slot. Open up your
spell book (Press P) and on the top tab you will find 'Shoot' under your
abilities. Left click on the shoot icon to select it, and then left
click again on your hot bank to place it. Once it is there, find a
target and either click with your mouse, or press the corresponding
number on your keyboard.
What level can I get my first wand?
You will normally come across your first dropped or quested wand around
level 10 to 15, however enchanters can make a
Lesser Magic
Wand which is usable from level 5.
What types of wands are there?
Wands can come in any form of magic that is in the game, Shadow, Fire,
Frost, Arcane Holy and Nature.
Is there any difference in what wand I use?
Apart from wands that have stats, only the damage difference. There are
some mobs that are more susceptible to different schools of magic, so if
you have the room, sometimes it's wise to carry more than one type. Some
mobs, such as the fire elementals in Arathi Highlands are completely
immune to fire damage, so therefore it would be handy to have a wand
from a different school of magic.
Talents
I think mwilding said it best with, "Remember, there
is no BEST build for a warlock, but there may be a best build for YOUR
warlock depending on how you want to play the game."
More talent information coming shortly, however for now, if you need
assistance please post on the
Forum.
Professions
There are so many professions in game, and really, all in a way can
benefit a Warlock, even if just from cash profit. There are however a
few Professions which benefit Warlocks more than others. Ultimately it
all comes down to personal preference.
Engineering
Chosen by a lot of Warlocks for the nifty items you can make. Players
choosing a PvP realm usually rave about items such as the
Net-o-matic
to root your opponents, but they come towards the end if you choose the
Gnomish route of Engineering. The ability to make combat pets such as
the
Compact Harvest Reaper,
Mechanical
Dragonling or perhaps a
Gnomish
Battle Chicken are also what lures us to Engineering. The bombs are
great for extra damage, and of course the
Green Lenses can end up being one of the best head items we can get.
Engineering is usually coupled with Mining as it requires a lot of Ore
and Stone.
Tailoring
Tailoring is great for someone wanting to make their own armor, and the
ability to make your own bags can come in handy. While earlier on in
levels you will most likely find superior armor available on the Auction
Houses, later on, Tailoring could come in very handy with items like the
Runecloth Robe,
Robe of Winter
Night, or perhaps some
Mooncloth
Leggings. To see a full list of items you can create, have a look
here.
I
personally coupled Tailoring with Leatherworking as you don't really use
a lot other components in Tailoring other than the Cloth that drops,
Leatherworking gave me a way to make some money to further my Tailoring
skills. A lot of Warlocks group Enchanting with Tailoring as you can
disenchant your own creations.
Alchemy
The ability to make your own potions should never be overlooked,
especially for PvP Warlocks as you never know when you might need a
quick heal. From
Healing
Potion's to
Oil of Immolation, from
Shadow
Protection to
Swiftness,
there are lots of reasons to consider Alchemy in your choices. To see a
full list, click
here.
Alchemists usually take up Herbalism to compliment each other.
First Aid
Almost, I would say, a must for Warlocks. You can never go past the
helpfulness of bandages, especially for soloing. The ingredients are
drops from mobs, and mostly from Humanoid's, so it doesn't cost you
anything. You can also use the bandages on your pet and in conjunction
with your Healthstone and Potions.
Mounts
Warlocks are only one of two classes that get a special
mount, and well Paladin's are sub-par to us anyway :-p While most
classes are shelling out 90g for their mount at level 40, Warlocks need
to head over to Ratchet in order to obtain theirs. At this stage there
is nothing else involved other than talking to an NPC twice, however
later on down the track there will be a quest involved.
Do I need to learn horse back riding to ride my mount?
No, unlike other classes that pay 19g to learn to ride their mounts, our
knowledge seems to inbuilt.
Do we get two version of our mount like everyone else? On
at 40 and a second at 60?
Yes, like all other classes, we get both a normal mount, called a
Felsteed and an Epic mount. At this time however, our epic mount isn't
in game.
Since we can summon a mount, can we
also get the standard mounts for our races if we choose to?
Yes, you can still buy the standard mounts.
User Interface
|
World of Warcraft supports dynamic reloading
of the user interface. At any time, you can modify the XML and Lua
files and then reload them by typing "/script ReloadUI()" (without
the quotation marks) and hitting the Enter key. If there are
syntax errors in loading, you can just edit, fix, and reload.
If you're not sure what's happening in the script, use the
"message()" function to print a message and view variables. Once
the dialog is shown, your script keeps on executing, but no other
"message()" calls will show anything until you click the button to
dismiss the dialog.
Feel free to experiment. If you break something, starting fresh is
really easy. If you have questions, look at the interface
customization forum at
www.worldofwarcraft.com to see if
other people have already figured out the answers, or to post your
own questions.
The interface files are provided
for your enjoyment, and are not supported in any way. That said,
we hope that World of Warcraft provides a robust and flexible
system for custom interfaces. |
What is User Interface (UI)?
Your User Interface is what you see on your screen, your mini map,
hotkeys, chat box etc, all are part of your User Interface, also known
as UI. For more information on how it works, have a look at the
official thread.
Full UI's
Below is a list of common and complete UI's. Most of them have parts you
can deactivate if you do not wish to use them.
-
Cosmos - Cosmos is a World of
Warcraft UI Extension. It allows users to try an abundant variety of
features, such as extra button bars (up to 60 buttons on the screen at
one time!), Increase Quest Text speed,Party Quests - share quest lists
with your party. (disabled for 4114), Buff Timers , Self-casting Map
Notes - make marks on your world, and much more. Considered bloated by a
lot, but still used by some.
-
GypsyMod - GypsyMod features
key changes to the interface, such as making every persistant screen
item except the minimap draggable to any position on the screen, adding
flexible and space-efficient hotkeys, displaying important information
like your health, mana, experience, and the health of your party clearly
and precisely, and much more. For more information on what GypsyMod can
do, check out the about
section.
-
CTMod - Movable bags, four
(4) extra banks of hotkeys, and my favourite, the ability to Mass Mail!

Add-ons
One of the best parts about the UI's, is that you can pick and choose
your add-ons to match your character, here are some ones useful to
Warlocks;
-
CountDoom -
CountDoom is an Add-On for warlocks. It displays a counter on the screen
whenever a demon is enslaved.
The goal is to give the warlock a warning as enslave approaches its
maximum duration. CountDoom can play sounds at specific times to grab
your attention. Currently, a sound may be played when there is 1 minute
left in enslave's duration and when enslave wears off.

-
MezHelper -
This mod performs a variety of functions to help with crowd control and
train mez breakers out of their dirty habits. ^_^ It is currently
working for Warlocks (Seduction) and Mages (Polymorph).

-
oneClick -
oneClick currently only has the warlock spells include, but I hope to
add other spells as I learn about their (de)buffs. This mod is named
OneClick because the user needs to mash the one button as often as they
wish to keep
casting the series of buffs/debuffs. Each time you push the button the
series of requested spells is consulted, and the one with the highest
priority that isn't currently applied, is called upon.

-
OneHitWonder
- OneHitWonder caches your spells and actions, and only updates the
cache when it believes it has changed (or you restart WoW / reload the
UI). It contains quite a lot of code to facilitate spell casting, but
huge chunks of it need to be refactored.

-
PetAttack -
PetAttack allows you to bind a key that will make your character say a
phrase and send your pet into battle. The phrase is chosen randomly from
a set of phrases within the lua file that you can add to, change, or
replace. The pet name, player names, and target names are all chosen
dynamically.

-
PetDefend -
PetDefend will cause your pet to defend other
members of your party when they get attacked in much the same way as it
defends you. The pet will only assist party members if the pet is set to
Defensive mode. The pet will also only assist party members if the pet
isn't currently engaged in combat with a mob. No more lazy pets that
just sit there and watch party members getting eaten alive.

-
PetLeash -
This addon is intended to keep your Warlock pet from chasing after
fleeing, feared, or sheeped mobs. When a humanoid mob is close to death,
it may run, causing your pet to chase after, and generally getting more
aggro. This addon will make your pet follow you should a mob try to run
away from fear or being sheeped. If the mob returns and attacks you or
your pet, the pet will resume combat (provided it is in defensive mode).

Voidwalker
Autosacrafice - A small addon that makes it possible to set the
Voidwalker Sacrifice ability to autocast by right clicking it. Enabling
autocast pops up a small window that lets you change the settings for

certain percentage of player or pet health has been reached, and the
slider bars let you set said percentage.

WarlockHelper
- There are a number of great mods out there designed to help warlocks
with specific tasks. This addon simply combines (and refines, as needed)
many of these mods. I have also added some code of my own, for features
I have yet to see implimented.

Macro's
What is a Macro?
A
Macro is something you create to automate functions with the press of
one button, for example, casting a spell and informing your group of the
spell you just cast. There are two types of Macro's you can make, simple
text Macro's such as /p Hi everyone, I'm Akasha, the crazy Warlock! The
other type of Macro's are scripting Macro's which tend to be a little
more involved.
How do I make a Macro?
By using the in game Macro feature, hit escape and click on the Macro's
button. Select the new button and then choose a name and icon of your
choice. Once you have done that click ok, then in the text box, you
enter the Macro text for what ever you wish to do.
How do I cast a spell in a macro?
Before you begin making your macro, open your spells directory and
locate the spell you wish to put in the macro. Begin making your macro,
and when you get to the stage of entering text, place your cursor in the
text box. Hold down your Shift key and left click on the spell you wish
to cast. This will put a line such as /cast Corruption(Rank 1) in your
Macro Command section. Hit enter to start the next line if you wish to
type any text such as /p Corruption Cast.
Is it possible to use multiple abilities in one macro,
such as cast Corruption, Curse of Agony, and then Shadowbolt?
No. The reason is that it is not possible to wait (or pause) in a macro,
but to cast one spell after another, you would have to cast the first
one, wait for it to finish, then cast the other.
Even instant spells activate a global recast timer, which is somewhere
in the neighborhood of one second, I believe, and you cannot cast
another spell until this timer is done. So, without the ability to wait
in a macro, it is impossible to cast multiple spells. It is, however,
possible to do multiple things that don't require waiting. You could,
for example, cast a spell and turn on attack. Or use two items (as long
as they had independent refresh timers).
You just can't do anything that would require waiting between action A
and action B.
How do I make the name of the monster
I just cast a spell on show in my Macro?
In order to have the monsters name
show in a macro, simply put %t and it will put the name of your target
instead. You can't use %t if you are doing more than one target, for
example %t said to %t, as it only works with the mob (or player) you
currently have targeted. It also should be noted that %t doesn't seem to
work once you are intoxicated.
Some helpful Warlock Macros
Use Healthstone Macro
/script for c=4,0,-1 do b=GetContainerNumSlots(c);if(b>0)then
for a=1,b,1 do d,e=GetContainerItemInfo(c,a);if(e)then i=Sea.wow.item.getInventoryItemName(c,a);if(string.find(i,"Healthstone",1,TRUE)~=nil)then
UseContainerItem(c,a);break;end end end end end
Using pet spells in a macro
To macro pet skills, use "/script
CastPetAction(index) where index is the position of the skill on your
pet bar. For example, my seduction macro is as follows:
/script CastPetAction(6)
/p Casting Seduction on %t DON'T TOUCH IT!!!
If you have any other Macro's that you
think other Warlocks would benefit from knowing, please post them in
this section
of the forum.
