Vista has been offically release over 4 months now. The only driver issues you still see out there is on equipment you will likely never see drivers for (ie your 7 year old laser jet printer...)
As for the permissions thing, that's called the User Account Control, and if your half way competent you can turn it off with a few minor changes.
The main problems I see with Vista (and I also work in tech support) are with people trying to run it on a machine that shouldn't even be running xp, let alone Vista. 1 gig of RAM is a must and a dedicated graphics card is as well (although why you would be playing WoW without either is beyond me).
