Whereas, if you follow lore, we power hungry bastards CHOSE to be evil. We dove into the dark arts, fully understanding the implications, and making a conscience decision of it.
Warlock = Evil by Choice
Deathknight = Evil by Accident
I wouldn't kill Illidan because he's bad, I'd kill him because his demon-hating self makes him a threat to my rise to power. I wouldn't knock off Arthas because he commands the scourge. I'd do it to create a power vacuum that I could potentially gain from.

Deathknights aren't always made against their will. Many choose to be evil as well. Take Arthas for example. His mind was slowly warped into thinking as he now does. On one hand, you could say he was forced into thinking that way because the Lich King had his claws in him through Frostmourne, however, On another hand nobody was pointing a gun at the back of his head making him do it, he sought out frostmourne on his own to accomplish those deeds.
The lore side of things for Death Knights is explained in the very first bit of opening quests as you learn to play the character. it explains why the Death Knights no longer are pawns of the Lich King and why the side with the horde/alliance. It is a choice they make.
The way I see it, they're evil, surely, but it is a different sort of evil from Warlocks. I believe there is room for two dark classes in this game.
