well to be honest I have NEVER been asked this. I was thinking wtf is he talking about. Then I say " lock buff?..with what?" So finally he ask for detect invis. was to funny. does this buff help with corpse runners? anyone else get asked for "lock buff"?

Wow. The only thing I could think of was the imp's blood pact!
Though I do put up detect invisibility and water breathing sometimes for the same reason as Derch: to hopefully make it take longer for the spells that I actually care about to get dispelled.
I do think that detect invisibility would help you see mages that just temporarily went invisible, or if someone is approaching you with an invisibility potion, though. But mostly I just use it to hopefully make it harder to dispel my good buffs.
