Re: Seeking general tactics to grind high level instances with a Warlock
I haven’t done much of this since BC but I use to solo Dire Maul East at 60. Use enslave demon and banish when possible. Use fear whenever there is room. Kite / Pull back to what you’ve already cleared to give more room for fear.
I highly suggest affliction for this type of work. Load up dots and run away from the mob while it’s feared. This gives you it’s whole run time towards you after fear breaks for the dots to do their work. Bring bandages to use between fears if needed. Learn the pathing of mobs. Use every ramp or corner to your advantage. Make use of line of sight when fighting casters. You can use a corner to spoil multiple spells by simply switching places with the target as it begins to cast duck around. When it follows and starts to cast again move back.
Curse of Doom is highly useful when you can avoid the mob / keep it feared long enough for it to trigger. Learn when using the VW to get AE agro and when to sacrifice him so you can AE is the most efficient way to clear multiple weak enemies and when it will still come up short and get you killed… Curse of Exhaustion is also very useful in kiting. If you can banish use CoD Basnish(rank2), Banish(rank1) combo to kill it with only a few seconds of vulnerability in between casts.
All the above was designed to kill mobs I could not go toe to toe with and may kill me in 2-3 rounds of melee. If you are fighting in much lower level instances typical drain tanking / DoT kiting tactics would apply.
