Re: how broken are locks? (extrapolating from ptr)
Well last night was another fine example of how Wrath of the Lich King is shaping up for us. Normally my guild raids with 3 locks and preferably 4 if they're all online. Past week it was 3 even when we had 4 locks around. Last night only 2 locks were initially invited. A third lock joined when a spriest had to log for a while. He would have been switched back out for the shadowpriest later on if the Moonkin didn't have to log.
I was the second lock on reserve so I had to sit this one out. It seems raidleaders are starting to catch on that locks are not as useful anymore.
As for dps comparisons here is a log from our Brutallus fight.
Wow Web Stats
Lincor the top rogue has dual legendaries so it's not a real surprise he's quite high. Though the difference with everybody else is quite remarkable to say the least.
Dreadful tried a demon build that raid because his preivous aff build had the problem of dots being pushed off (and he was the only aff lock on the raid!). He's also by far the best lock we have both in gear and skill. Previous Brut kills placed him on nr 1 spot with usually 200 to 300+ dps above the nr 2.. nr 2 being another lock. Now he is lucky if he's in the top 10.
On M'uru the locks had a field day with dps due to AE, but even with the massive AE damage advantage they only barely got even with rogues and hunters in overall damage (who were switching targets on adds most of the time).
We did get KJ down before but had an unlucky streak last night. The logs on him aren't all that good.
