35% is raid buffed. Raid buffs provide 18% crit rating, so subtract 18% from that and you get 17% crit rating off of just gear. Which is actually a bit low IMO for level 80 naxx level raiding.

Immolate doesn't generate any more threat than other spells. Threat is generated by damage. Essentially (before threat reducing modifiers) 1 point of damage = 1 point of threat. If your immolate does 2000 damage total with the DD and after the DoT finishes, it will do the exact same amount of threat as a Corruption that does 2000 damage total.

The ONLY spell warlocks have that does more than 1 point of threat per 1 point of damage is searing pain. Another common misconception is that CRITS cause more threat. This is true and false. It's more threat because it's more damage. But, even a crit only causes 1 point of threat per 1 point of damage done.


Also, due to the massive changes in threat mechanics, I haven't had to use a single soul shatter yet since Patch 3.0 was released. At the moment threat is a non-issue unless you either severely outgear your tank, or your tank really sucks. :p
