I too see what you're saying, but you're really only talking about the first application of everything. After the first application, everything is refreshed as needed. So yes, you might pick up a few DPS, but we might be nit-picking here.

I do see the benefit of casting corruption late in the cycle too though. If you keep it late then the offset between Haunt and Corruption is greater and then if you're a little late on a Haunt refresh then you're less likely to lose Corruption too. And losing Corruption during a raid fight might get missed for a cycle or two lowering your DPS significantly.
