Might I suggest adding some visual cue that there are subtopics under each section that can be expanded? Maybe an ellipsis under each of the sections that, if clicked, turns into all the subsections. Another idea is to have a plus next to the parent section that would indicate it can be clicked to expand out all the children sections.
I think what you've done is a great idea I just don't want your work on creating the sublinks to go overlooked if someone doesn't realize they are there.
