We could build Arcane Sanctums in the human missions of WCIII which suggests that the elves were still part of the Alliance. I think Blizzard may have adjusted the Lore to keep the elves in, in order to propel the story forward. The story I'm concerned with anyway.

If they weren't part of the Alliance, the whole plot line in WCIII where Kael'thas is still taking orders from Garithos, after the Sunwell destruction is a little weird. Leaving a race to die (or even encouraging events to make that happen), reasoning that they had concerns over their environment is a bit harsh, if not genocidal, wouldn't you say?

Arthas was responsible for his own actions. He just happened to be human. Thrall had the good sense to go to Kalimdor. I guess a greater evil / motivation drew Ner'zhul in, so we could go further back to exonerate Ner'zhul. We could blame Eve for eating an apple, if we were so inclined, but we all know it was the serpent's fault for putting it there.

My mentioning it as a "true story" was more of a humorous aside. The Lore does imply it could be possible though. It's on the internet somewhere so it must be true.

Agree strongly with this. What I don't agree with is the notion that the Horde are evil because the Alliance are just as malevolent. Any time I join a discussion like this it's usually because of the misconception of Alliance = Good / Horde = Bad. I know the Horde haven't always been immaculately behaved.
