Re: Alright...enough with the DK's

If it gives you all any comfort, my 73 Orc DK got smacked down by a 71 Human warlock the other day while questing in Borean Tundra. I didn't get his name to look him up on the Armory, so not sure of his spec, but he had the Felguard.

In my defense, he was in PvP gear (or at least the old Demon-head PvP headpiece from pre-Wrath) and I was just in starter zone Northrend quest greens and blues. Ordinarily, I would never mention being humiliated in PvP, but I think it's worthwhile to point out that not every DK can "faceroll" the keyboard and beat a good Warlock. Nor are DK's easy mode in PvE, either. It took me quite awhile to get a handle on the Rune system and figure out cast/attack sequences that didn't put essential abilities on cooldown when I most needed them. I have only dabbled in PvP with my DK, but I imagine the same is true: if your Frost runes are on cooldown, you can't interrupt a spell cast with Mind Freeze. If you don't have an Unholy Rune or Death Rune available, you can't Death Strike and heal yourself. Anti-Magic Shell consumes a lot of Runic power that could be used for a Gargoyle or Death Coil. Point being, as with any class there are cooldowns, limitations to abilities, and attack sequences that work and attack sequences that don't work. DK's have to learn these, same as a Warlock.

By the way, I am proud to say I did not immediately Death Grip the Warlock at the start of the engagement. Fat lot of good it did me. He followed advice posted here in this forum and basically kited me to death with Fear and DoTs while his FG beat the crap out of me. I was able to close to melee range a few times, once by using my ghoul's Leap and Gnaw to stun him, and finally using Death Grip once, but I couldn't do enough damage to him to overcome the damage he was doing to me.
