Re: Fake casting
Fake casting (aka juke or juking) is based on the assumption that your opponent is going to use his or her silence to lock you out midcast (most silences last longer if they hit mid-cast as opposed to when not casting or casting an instant spell). Against any experienced opponent, it's not a matter of 'if,' it's a matter of 'when.'
If you know that your opponent is going to Counterspell/Silence/Kick/Pummel/Spell Lock/Strangulate/etc, you want them to cast it when you are either not casting or casting an instant.
Enter Juking - since your opponent wants to silence your fear mid-cast (for example) for maximum effect; you want to start casting fear, then jump/move/escape so that the silence lands when you are -not- casting.
Once they burn their silence, you know that you have X seconds where you cannot be silenced, therefore you can cast freely without having to worry about getting silenced.
