3.1 Re: First lvl 80 arena experience - what a dissapointment... :-/

Thanks for the advice and tips. Helpful stuff.

Great tip engaging in duels and trying lots of 1v1 combat in BGs. Had a long session last night where I did just this, in addition to trying a lot of skirmishes. The skirmishes were also nice as I got to try playing with different classes. The ones were I got a healer were real fun - pure pwnage!

Also got some motivation from this video YouTube - Viscus II - Destruction Warlock PvP Level 80 HD - chinese and destruction pvp seem to go hand-in-hand.. (ref drakedog).

Anyways - a little more upbeat today as success last night was a lot better (although I still don't see myself killing a rogue anytime soon..), and noted a couple of pointers:

1. self buffing in arena is a bit easier with a macro - trying this one for self buff after summoning pet

#showtooltip
/castsequence [target=player] Fel Armor, Soul Link, Detect Invisibility, Unending Breath

and this for applying stone on wep
/console Sound_EnableSFX 0
/cast Create Spellstone
/use Master Spellstone
/use 16
/click StaticPopup1Button1
/console Sound_EnableSFX 1

2. Use the spells we rarely use in PVE... so easy to forget them when used to PVE playstyle. CoT, shadowflame.. not to mention demonic circle. Have made a little cheat-sheet with these spells to help "remember" them.

3. Get distance first, then nuke. Had some success last night with using demonic circle (getting away with trinket and/or shadowfury), then casting the combo immolate, CB, conflag, shadow-burn. the cb, conflag and sb with a crit can take like 10-15k in a space of 2 seconds - if not dead spam incinerate if possible (or a death coil just for the instant kill damage). Had a great kill on a warrior.. he was prolly thinking "wtf, were'd he go?"... BOOM DEAD!!

Seeing some progression at least - perhaps Ill boot the mage for a healer, and perhaps actually win some rated matches...

EDIT: And speaking about motivation, gotta add an old Drakedog video YouTube - Drakedog 8 Part 2/3 HQ simply because I think it's so cool at 1:05 when he summons an infernal while at ~5% health to help kill an opposing player! ;p
