Re: Warlock PvP
Well, i guess i will throw in my two cents here...
i have been doing PVP pretty constant over the last month or so. and i have to say i really like it. even as a class that is not really meant for PVP i do pretty good.
I would first like to forward you guys to Arena Junkies. it is very helpful. these guys are top ranked in PVP and they provide guides on how to tackle other classes in arena and in battlegrounds; Arena Junkies - World of Warcraft PvP Strategy and Discussion
as for my personal experiences. any sort of trinket that will release you from binding affects is your best friend! such as: Medallion of the Alliance
i have this bad boy right in click reach on my screen that way if i get feared or stunned i just click it and i am FREE!
when it comes to fighting other classes i find that distance is vital. stay far away, if they come towards you... back up and throw curses.
Also Shadowfury Is going to be a main spell used in PVP. when a whole group of enemies group together or there is a bundle fight of about 10-15 people all huddled together drop, this right on them and it will stun them for a few seconds. if you are one on one with another class, use this first. my rotation is usually:
shadowfury>curse (depending on class)>immolate>conflag>chaos bolt>spam incenerate>shadowburn (sometimes)
now this is all crazy because the rotation can get messed up depending on the fight. i may throw in a fear, or a death coil here and there if it is on CD; if i am not being target right off, i will throw curse of tongues on any caster (to slow down their casting) and curse of weakness on melee classes (to knock down some damage they do) anything you can do to help is worth the effort.
I also have: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=46087 macro's to my Conflag that way when the CD is up i get an extra 440 SpellPower when casting Conflag which stays effective for 20 seconds so if i get my full rotation in i get that extra boost!
just as a quick note: i use DoTimer to watch my cooldowns. i have found that the worst part of PVP is not having a spell ready when you need it. ShadowFury has a 20 second cooldown and it's nice to have the DoTimer cooldown bar right there on the screen to see when it will be ready.
alot of people say that Shadowburn is not worth using in PVP but i have to disagree. it's instant damage and it can really help when a healer is just about to bring a guy up from 5% life back to 100% so throw this instant on him and he's down! i do keep a full 32 shards in my bag when i am PVP'ing as well. to insure i have enough.
The best way to learn to PVP is get out there and do it. i went in cold not knowing ANYTHING about it. the warlock den really helped with all the threads and i hope this one will help other warlock succeed. but honestly just play battlegrounds over and over and fight. you will die and get mad and want to break your keyboard over rogues and DK's, but once you get geared up it gets better.
and just for the record, my spec is 0/17/54 and i use the felhunter. i don't use him to attack, he is on passive to remove debuffs and stopcast other players. i also use the glyph of felhuner so he will heal me when he removes a debuff.
