Re: Tips for a first timer in Stratholm?

All your items drop on the dead side of Stratholme (strat). I been to strat so many times, I hit revered with Argent Dawn without breaking a sweat. Therefore, here are some tips I can share with you.

Baroness Anastari, is the first boss mob you will face and can drop your Dreadmist boots. She has an 800-damage shadow based attack and she can AoE silence so keep your distance from her. Her biggest ability is to mind control someone. That person will start randomly attacking the raid. As a warlock use your wand so you do not kill the person mind controlled and what ever you do, Do Not DoT that person. You will kill them if you do. You only need to get them down to 25%-30% before she will release them. Just keep your distance so they do not kill you in the process either. Easy fight if you ask me.

Nerub’Enkan is the next boss you will face, if the raid follows the normal path through the instance. Nerub’Enkan is a wimp, and is as easy to kill as the trash mobs IMHO. Nothing really to post about him. After you kill Nerub’Enkan, there is a set of gates you will go through, it is a trap and will spawn these little leech looking worms. I would say about 30-40 of them. If you go in solo, you will mostly like die. Wait for the entire, or most of, the raid to enter together. AoE the mobs down, they are not elites.

The next room will have Thuzadin Necromancer mobs in it, which can drop your belt.

Maleki the Pallid is the next boss you will face. He is also very easy and I will not worry too much about him.

After him, you will face Magistrate Barthilas, another easy boss. He does not do anything special just nuke him. He drops the key to the service entrance, which you will most likely enter if someone on the raid has the key.

After you kill, the Magistrate there is another gate to your left called, The Slaughterhouse. Make sure if the raid enters this, you do also as quickly as possible. If they start attacking any of the abomination mobs in here, the gate will shut and you will be suck outside unless someone can summon you. After you kill the last abomination, Ramstien will exit Baron Rivendare room and walk towards the raid. He hits hard, but is very easy if the MT can hold aggro.

After Ramstein dies, a massive swarm of skeletons will rush the raid. They have very low HP’s so just AoE them down. Get mana and health back as soon as you can. Five elite level 60 skeletons start exiting Baron Rivendare room. If you can survive through this, no more mobs spawn and you can relax and get ready of the last fight… The Baron.

Baron Rivendare has a chance to drop your legs. When you are ready, move through the doors, down the stairs and into the room to your left hugging the wall as much as you can so you don’t accidentally aggro him before you are ready. If you are not 60 yet, I would just wait outside his room but into the area where Ramstein came from.

The Baron has a lot of HP and has an aura, which he cast ever 2 seconds and has a wide range. Keep your distance to him as much as possible. Ever now and then, the Baron will summon six skeletons, they will rise from the six piles of bones scattered in the room. Your job here is to AoE them down ASAP for two reasons, 1) so they do not kill the priest/healers in the raid. 2) 10 seconds after they spawn, the Baron will cast Death Pact, which heals him from every skeleton still alive and it heals him for quite a lot, so there is not reason to add more work then you already need to kill him.

Again, your job here is to AoE those skeletons down as soon as you see them spawn.

Other then that, it is a fun and exciting zone unless you are one of the unlucky warlocks who have raided this place some 100+ times trying to get your 3 pieces of Dreadmist. Then you will become to hate it and never want to run it again ever! Speak from experience here Haha.

Misc Info -
There are many crates you will find scattered through out the instance, most of them are trapped, so be careful when looting them. The quest you can get for Strat, can only be done with a 5-man group, minus a few that can be done Most of not all the mobs here are undead. I tend to use CoS followed by SB (SM/Ruin Spec) to do the most damage.
