Ok, I am sure others have had the same problem as I have, but since this is my first character, I am gonna see if some of you more experienced people out there can help me not waste my time.

My problem is that when I see an NPC with a yellow exclamation point on his head, I have this incredible urge to do his quest; but, I am almost always forced to abandon some other quest to make room. So I find myself with a full quest log always, and 3/4 of them I keep until they are green and eventually just get rid of them. Sometimes when walking into a new area and there are 5 or 6 NPC's with quests... I cringe. I know I am gonna want to accept the quests, and have the hardest time figuring out which ones to abandon.

My question is this... I am level 51 now, have another 5-6 quests still for Tanaris, some left from STV, a couple elite quests from Badlands, some from Blasted Lands, and the list goes on and on. My quests are spread all over the damn place, and I can never decide whether to stop exploring and knuckle down in a zone to finish them all, or pick and choose the easier ones and keep on moving. I seem to outlevel the quests before I can get them done. The ones I think sound easy tend to have a ton of travelling involved, and a lot of times give crap exp. I try and keep yellow and red quests in there as priority, and always delete green quests first but cringe at the thought of erasing a chained quest, or something with a useful reward.

Is there a general rule of thumb to use when choosing how to quest? Do you not accept quests when passing through new areas and only get them when your planning on hunkering down there? I hate to miss out on chain type stuff, and it happens alot. Almost every instance run I go through, someone is in there with a quest that I don't have cause they talked to some NPC in a far away land first.

Is there a list of "must get" chain type quests for each level that I could refer to without bogging myself down sifting through the 50+ quests per zone Thott lists out? It seems there are some nice rewards out there, but the only one I find are the ones I stumble upon.

Any advice on where I should concentrate my efforts now that I am 51?

P.S. I have the RoTV pattern, so anything that also involves mobs that drop mats... is a big plus.
