The Binding The Human and her Voidwalker…
Even the older and wiser can be unmanned by the wiles of youth and beauty, Warlock. A piece of advise you would do well to remember throughout your life. - Gakin the Darkbinder
Quest brief:
Walkthrough:
[10] Gakin's Summons Gakin the Darkbinder who resides in the basement of The Slaughtered Lamb in Stormwind, has been trying to track you down and has left a message with Remen Marcot in Goldshire, it appears you have gone too long without proper training. Continuing with the basement theme, you will find Remen underneath the Lions Head Inn in Goldshire, hopefully you should be familiar with this area from training at levels 6 and 8. Upon reaching level 10, you will notice Remen with an exclamation mark above his head indicating you can now get the quest. Upon accepting it, you need to make your way to The Mage Quarter of Stormwind and down to the basement of The Slaughtered Lamb.
If you have not yet made your way to Stormwind and are unfamiliar with it's whereabouts, simply follow the path leading north and a little west out of Goldshire; if you mouse over the sign posts you will see one says "Stormwind City". Once you enter the main area of Stormwind, locate a guard (there are two right at the underpass as you enter) and follow the prompts - you are wanting to ask for class trainers - Warlock. After speaking to the guard, a yellow arrow will appear on your mini map as well as placing a red flag on your game map (press M), and because Gakin the Darkbinder is standing about a foot away from your Warlock trainer, this is the easiest way to locate him.
The Slaughtered Lamb is located at the very back of The Mage Quarter, so you need to head out the west exit from The Trade District and cross the bridge; this will bring you into the Mage Quarter. From there you need to head in and around to your right, following it up until you see the yellow arrow on your mini map turn to a red flag. Mouse over the signs that hang outside the buildings, locate The Slaughtered Lamb and head inside.
Once inside you want to head straight through to the doorway at the back and follow the spiraling pathway down, at the end it will open into a large round room and you should be able to see Gakin across the room. Make your way over and hand in this step to receive the next. Note: This step is not required in order to obtain the next, it's just an added 420 experience and a way to get you there if you didn't already know about it.
[10] Surena Caledon When you are ready to continue, Gakin tells you the story of the beautiful Surena Caledon, a talented young Warlock eager to learn what Gakin had to teach. Unfortunately at some point Surena decided to run off with a member of the Defias named Erlan Drudgemoor and taking with her a bloodstone chocker. It is now your task to retrieve this chocker for Gakin, and as he so bluntly informs you, her life is of no importance anymore. Off to Brackwell Pumkpin Patch we go...
Tip: As you're level 10 now, don't forget to train your new spells as well as any Imp Grimoires you might have missed. You can get training for you and your pet beside Grakin.
If you've completed any of the quests in Elwynn Forest and have either Glowing Wax Sticks, Bag of Marbles or Explosive Rockets left, now would be the time to use them. At level 10 you also gain the ability to Drain Soul and create Healthstones, so make full use of these abilities while clearing, they will come in very handy. Don't worry too much, once you get your DoTs on them, they all drop very easily, but it's better to go in over prepared. Once you are done, loot the chocker off Surena and make your way back to Gakin.
[10] The Binding After you return the choker to Gakin, you have one final step remaining before you can summon your very own Voidwalker, you must defeat one first. Gakin gives you a Bloodstone Choker that, when right clicked on the summoning circle, will call forth a Voidwalker for you to battle. The hardest part for most people however, is trying to find this summoning circle!
Look for the doorway at the top of some steps beside Gakin, you want to start by heading through there. You will find yourself spiraling downwards once again before it connects to some stairs, continue on down these. At the end of these stairs will be a large room with another set of stairs at both ends, you want to face north east (turn right) and take those ones down, and at the bottom you can only go one way, left. Once at the bottom, about twelve steps forward there will be an opening on your left with one final flight of stairs leading down and hopefully, you should be able to see the summoning circle at the bottom.
Short Version:
Once you have found it, get yourself ready to summon and fight the Voidwalker, a very easy fight if you ask me. When you are ready, stand on the summoning circle and right click the choker from your bag slot to begin the summoning. The process looks just like you are summoning a normal pet, and at the end a "Summoned Voidwalker" will spawn. To start with he is friendly however will change to aggressive and attack you after two to three seconds. With my Imp and my three DoTs the voidwalker was toast, nothing to it. He won't be lootable when he dies, you simply need to head back up to Gakin and inform him of your accomplishment.
Run up, hand in and summon your very own big blue friend.
To make summoning easier, click and drag the spell out of the book and down onto your hot bar, this will allow you to one click summon the Voidwalker from there instead of having to open the spell book every time. To summon your Voidwalker, simply left click the spell once, however remember that this pet costs one (1) soul shard to summon.
Note : There are also mods and add-ons that make summoning all your pets easier and clear up hotkey spots, please see the User Interface and Macros section for more info.
To learn more about your Voidwalker, what he can do, his abilities you can purchase and the best ways to use him, please see the Voidwalker Profile Page. (As of Jan 11, the pet profile pages are still in the process of being put together.)
