Felsteed Level 40 Mount
I would give you a reward for your patience and hard work. But know this, the ability to summon a Felsteed will be much more difficult in the future. You will have to earn it... and it will not be easy. For now, go with the power to summon such a creature and use it as you see fit. ~ Strahad Farsan.
Level Requirement: Level 40 Speed Increase: 60% speed increase
At this time in the game, there is currently no quest required to complete in order to obtain your Felsteed. Your local Warlock trainer will now sell you to skill for a few silver (depending on your current reputation) much like any of our spells. (This was updated as of The Burning Crusade release, you are no longer required to make your way to Ratchet.)
Unlike normal mounts, the Felsteed is a spell you cast in order to summon it, and you will find the spell under the Demonology tab of your spell book. The other benefit to us getting a special mount, is once you obtain it, you are automatically given the Apprentice riding skill which is a saving of approximately 80 gold (non-discounted). Once you have the skill, you can go and purchase your normal faction mount for around 10g if you want to...
Nothing is for free...
One of the things that non Warlocks/Paladin's have always complained about since day one, is that we seem to be getting a "free" mount, this is not true. The higher cost of Warlocks spells and need to purchase Pet Grimoires end up close to the cost of a mount anyway. So while we don't have to save 90g at level 40, we have already spent close to it already. So next time someone complains we get a free mount, be sure to educate them.
Background:
The remote plains of Desolace were once home to a unique breed of horse too proud and wild to countenance riders. Yet it is precisely this willful conceit that enticed the elders of the Shadow Council to bind these majestic steeds to their service with dark rituals too horrific to perform by any but the most depraved of warlocks. Although they retain their imposing forms, these newly-christened felsteeds have become twisted with infernal energies, treading flames and breathing fire. Where their eyes once shone with exuberance and a zest for life, they now burn with hatred for the warlocks who corrupted them and anguish at the passing of the lives they once knew. ~ Blizzard
