Support the Den!

This site would not be what it is today without the people that use it. From providing helpful posts on the forums and keeping the environment “official forum free”, to writing guides, news posts and so much more. On top of the written contributions, it is because of all the people that come simply to read those guides and posts, that they are written in the first place. Thankyou for making The Warlocks Den one of the sites you choose to use.

Hopefully people garner a lot from here, either in the form of information learnt, or simply a pleasant place in which to chat amongst yourselves, free from flames, insults and the “learn to play” replies. For those that choose to, there are also many ways you can give back and help support The Warlocks Den, help it grow bigger and better and in turn provide more back to everyone. Below is just some of the things you can do, most of which, won't cost you a cent.

Advertisements

Nobody really likes advertisements on web sites, and although most sites provide information free to anyone who seeks it out, they are not free to keep maintained and running. Hosting, domain names, maintenance… all of it costs money.

For the first two years of this site's life, I paid all costs out of my own pocket, happy to provide a place for Warlocks to come. As the site grew (yay!), so did the cost of keeping it running well (aww). Choosing to place advertisements on the site was not an easy decision; however in the end I needed to find something to help ease the pain of the monthly invoices and this was one way to do so without requiring any money from people using the site.

I have always, and will always, try to make the advertisements as annoyance free as possible and chose to stay far away from pop ups, and inter-page ads. I have also vowed to keep any and all ads for gold selling or power-leveling servers off this site, I will not support anything that goes against the Blizzard ToS or what gamers want.

Advertisements are currently the core source of income for this site. They require nothing from the users as most work on a “pay per impression” system, requiring people to simply view the site with them showing. The more pages loaded (both content and forum), the more the ads are shown, the more money they bring in. Mixed in with these ads are “pay per click” advertisements, paying only if someone clicks on the ad and is directed to the advertiser’s website.

Pay per impression ads are the optimal choice as all users can help bring in the revenue simply by viewing pages and posting discussion threads, however they usually pay less than one cent per impression. Although requiring user interaction, pay per click advertisements do tend to pay better, so if you see an ad that looks interesting to you, please take a moment to have a look.

Donations.

The Warlocks Den always has and always will remain completely free to use. As mentioned above however, running a site (especially when it gets big) becomes expensive and donations are an easy voluntary way for users of the site to say thank you. I never expect members to contribute anything monetary, nor will I ask for it, however for those that can afford it and want to, the option is available. Everything given towards the site goes back into the site, and it's the donations and contributions from people that allowed the competition for the new front page to reward prizes. I'm hoping to be able to do this again in the future.

There are a two ways you are able to donate to the site. Registered members can to go to their User CP and then onto the Paid Subscriptions section located down the left hand menu. There you will find options to donate to the site, directly to Crypt* or to an Ad Free subscription which is explained below. Beside each option is a drop down menu that allows you to choose an amount to donate, please note any amounts over $15 will automatically qualify you for an ad-free subscription.

If you are not a registered member, or do not want to use the inbuilt system, you can donate directly to akasha@wowmb.net via paypal or click the button below:

* 100% of all donations made to Crypt go directly to him.

Subscriptions.

Like the donations option above, purchasing a subscription is a way to say thank you to the site and help keep everything up and running, only this way, you get something back in return. For $15 for an entire year, or the price of a cup of coffee a month, you can sign up as a Den Subscriber to receive benefits above and beyond the normal use of the forums.

The most obvious benefit to subscribing is having all the advertisements turned off, but on top of that you have your name shown in blue, both in the "who's online" box as well as beside all your posts, you receive the ability to show an avatar, image signature and give yourself a custom title. Forum abilities like creating polls, rating threads and leaving feedback towards other posters are also all included. To see the full details of the subscription, please see the thread located here.

Please note that any donation over $15 automatically includes you in the ad-free subscription group.

Post Away!

Posting and discussing things on the forums is one of the best ways to help the site grow. The more discussions happening, the more other people have to read and respond to, and with a snowball effect, the cycle continues. Good discussions also give those who hadn't already, a reason to register and get involved as well as keeping them and others around to hopefully read and post in other threads. Posting new information about any changes or updates to WoW keeps people coming back to find out more, as well as potentially have them link this new information to their friends and guild mates, again, bringing in more people.

Unlike the official forums, there are no geographical restrictions when posting here, allowing Euro, US and Asian Warlocks the chance to both learn and teach, providing a larger pool of information for those seeking it. Sharing character stories, tales of adventure or anything you want to share with us brings us closer together, and you never know what good thread you might start. We have a great bunch of people here who will not flame or bring down any post made, so post away!

Spread the word!

On top of posting on the forums, another fantastic, and dare I say, "the best" way to help the site, is to spread the word and inform more people about it. Although we are growing daily, there are still many many Warlocks out there that do not know we exist and are missing out on all the wonderful help people provide. Help these Warlocks, and the site, by telling them that we are here, from simple things like posting a link on your guild forums, to posting links to the guides we have if you see someone asking for help. So long as you word your advice correctly, people should be thankful for the help. Naturally I am not asking you to start spamming /yell or /1 channels in game or spamming anywhere on other sites to come here, simply help by spreading the word to those that you think might benefit.

The more people we get here, the better we become!

Please note all guides are copywrite © The Warlocks Den and can not be posted in part or full on another website, even guild sites. If you quote anything from this site, you must provide a source link.

Signature for rent.

For those that post on other forums, especially the official ones, you can use your signature space to help spread the word! Having a link to the site (preferably to the front page) allows you to let other people know that we're here, without requiring you to actually say anything directly, simply post helpful information around with your signature showing. The benefit to this as well is that the more people that have the link there, the more others are likely to follow it out of curiosity if nothing else.

Example signature:

The Warlocks Den – http://wowmb.net
A little patch of the net dedicated just to us…

Submit a Guide...

People don't usually post links to general threads around the place, however they will if it provides useful information or guides them. How do I level jewelcrafting? Check this guide out. What armor should I get? Have a look at this post listing gear. Posts that provide information, analysis', armor comparison or anything else that could fall under the "guide" category are usually linked around the place as people find it helpful and start sharing. By submitting guides and/or informational posts to this site, you not only help the site, but could also potentially create a name for yourself... just look at Crypt.

As mentioned above, the members that use this site are a great bunch of people so do not fear posting your guide here, even if it's not the best thing ever written, you can and usually do receive helpful criticism to improve it.

And last but not least, for anyone who chooses to support the site, no matter which way they do it... thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
