DoT Timer

Description:
DoTimer is an add-on that times DoTs and HoTs that you cast on other people. There are actually 5 add-ons included in this download:

• DoTimer: times DoTs and HoTs - Cooldowns: times your cooldowns
• Communication: lets you send your timers from DoTimer and Cooldowns to other people
• Notifications: lets you set up alerts to various events
• Prominence: lets you make timers from DoTimer appear elsewhere onscreen (for more important timers)
• PlayerAuras: replaces the standard blizzard buff/debuff timers
• Ash_Core: a collection of libraries for the other four add-ons to use

Plenty of add-ons (Quartz and Necrosis especially) will show countdown bars for my DoTs and banishes. The trick with DoTimer is that it has a countdown bar for my succubus' seduce... absolutely vital in most heroic runs. ~ Warpy

DoTimer is one of the must have addons for any warlock, especially with DoTs being our bread and butter. The ability to keep track of multiple mobs, and especially players in PvP, and be able to click the timer to re-target the player, is absolutely a must for its utility alone. The fact that almost every class in WoW can use this add on makes it extremely useful across the board. The ability to set up various notifications to others with it also makes it very handy. ~ Gypsii

I used this mod the entire time when I was levelling and during 10 mans, but unfortunately now I'm in 25 mans I have noticed a significant increase in CPU time used by this mod, possibly due to the number of mobs being tracked and spells being thrown around. ~ Dalnaresh

Grimoire Keeper

Description:
Tired of going to the demon trainer and struggling to remember which grimoires you had the money to purchase last level? Tired of blowing soul shards only to see 'Already Known' on every book? Then Grimoire Keeper is for you!

Simply unzip this handy little add-on into your World of WarcraftInterfaceAddOns directory and login. When you summon a demon, Grimoire Keeper's tiny little gnomes will interrogate it using top-secret techniques to learn its level of mastery for all spells. They'll then write down that information for that character, storing it securely in your per-character SavedVariables file. Any time your demon learns a new spell, our gnomes will re-interrogate it for added thoroughness.

When you visit the demon trainer, the gnomes will spring into action, bustling up to the interface panel with BLUE CRAYONS to color all the books that your demons know blue. Books you can't learn yet will remain red, which leaves you, the fortunate warlock, to select which of the white books you'd like to buy.
Don't worry, the crayon washes off before the next person tries to buy anything. No property is permanently damaged.

Grimoire Keeper is dependent on no additional mods and settles comfortably into the background, requiring little to no maintenance on your part. Just be sure you summon each demon once before visiting the trainer, for maximum utility.

Blizzard should have put something like this in the game anyways. They have that entire filtering process for other methods of training where you can view already known, available, and ones you can't get yet. Guess the Grimoire system is different as its more like a store where you buy a scroll to train your pet rather than just the skill itself... Oh well, 5 stars for this add-on. ~ Pernicious

Necrosis

Description:
Necrosis is a mod which help warlocks to manage their stones, shards, and demon summons. The infamous Necrosis Ball still appears on a number of UI mods and was the original add-on to present a number of Spells in an easy-to-use format which removed some of the need for more traditional action bars.

Its generally still a very good add-on with options for shard management, spell menu's, and submits various messages to the user in the form of visual/audio prompts (when mobs have fear resistance, or are able to be banished, or if Shadowtrance/Backlash procs).

Although its not currently that well supported it still seems to function.

Necrosis is great, if you don't want to mess with a bunch of add-ons. However, if your an add-on junkie like myself there are better alternatives to nearly everything necrosis does, including creating your on macros for things like the banish/focus. That having been said if you only want one add-on (or very few), get Necrosis. ~ Majestrix

Necrosis seems to be a stand-by for any 'starter' warlock. It's a good way to start getting things organized and then as you learn/decide what you want to do with your UI you can move on or customize it depending on your tastes. The main reason I still keep it loaded is to have all of my curses in a pop-out menu for easy/fast use. ~ Nereida

Necrosis WAS awesome. But, it hasn't been updated in ages, and I just can't use and rely upon such an outdated mod. I'd like to see a new all-in-one mod come along, but I haven't seen anything that comes close to Necrosis. ~ Chriasas

Forte Warlock

Description:
Raid Soulstone Tracker, Spell Timer, Cooldown Timer, Summon Monitor, Soulshard Tracker, Healthstone Tracker. An alternative to Necrosis.

I like it a lot, especially if all the other warlocks in the raid are using it too. The quick summoning thing is sweet. Just a double click to start a summon is nice. ~ Freddo

The summoning thing is fantastic. It lists everyone not immediately near you and double clicking the name will summon them. If someone whispers you with the word summon, and they are on that list, there name turns pink. Also if multiple locks are summoning, it shows you who is currently summoning the person on your list, so you don't end up with multiple locks summoning the same person. ~ Pernicious

Shard Ace

Rating: Low rating mostly due to lack of exposure and Warlocks using it.

Description:
Shard tracking and management, spell access, quick buttons for healthstones, soul stones and spell stones. Similar to Necrosis but smaller on screen and still being updated to support new versions. It's also written with ACE so you can keep it updated with the wowace updater.

I prefer it over necrosis. There are simply too many features of necrosis that I didn't use. ShardAce is the most simple and efficient mod for managing warlock spells, perfect for the minimalists. ~ Debuff
ShardAce has exactly what I want and no more. Necrosis attempted far too much trying to take over spell bars and such. I use Bongos for that, all I want is simple tracking of shards and stones, which is what Shardace gives. I have problems keeping an eye on other people's buffs, so the announcement that your soulstone is expired is perfect as well. ~ Ohmresist

ShardAce is the only warlock-specific add on I use. All the others seem either bloated or redundant compared to general purpose add-ons which do the same things for multiple classes. Definitely a must-have. ~ Vorph

Other add-ons to look at:

• Lylock. Enhanced actions for summon, soulstone and healthstone as well as soulstone cooldown and banish countdown timers. Info thread here.
• LockNotes. This is a small mod that simply displays when one of your spells is resisted, along with a short sound clip. Info thread here.
• WarlockAlert. Nightfall/Backlash proc warnings add-on. Info thread here.
• Demonomicon. Demonomicon gives you a compact, key-bindable interface for summoning and controlling your demonic minions. Info thread here.
• eeShards. It manages the number of warlock soul shards a person has, and displays a count to the user. It can also alert the user when they're low on soul shards. Info thread here.
• UberBanish. If you die during the banish, it sends a /tell to the other warlocks in the raid and announces your death in chat. Info thread here.

General Add-ons

Omen Threat Meter

Rating: Must have add-on, get it... GET IT NOW!!

Description:
Omen is a threat meter. Basically, enemies in WoW decide who to attack by deciding who is the most threatening based on the abilities you use. What Omen attempts to do is provide reasonably accurate estimates of your group's relative threat level on individual enemies, so that you can see when you're in danger of pulling aggro (or, if you're next on the snack list if your tank bites it). This info is usually only critical in raids, where only tanks can survive aggro, but it's useful for any multi-player situation.

If I had to chose ONE add-on, this would be it. No doubt. This add-on shows you how far your damage can go. It tells you when you need to stop doing damage. It tells you when you can do more damage. ~ Malboro

Omen and Dotimer are just absolute must haves for any lock. I'm not a big fan of addons but I have these. The best part of omen, especialy if your an affliction lock that dots up multiple targets. It' keeps track of your threat for each target. ~ Anij

Even if it's just you & your pet, especially the Voidwalker, OMEN is great as you know exactly when you're going to pull a mob off him. In my guild if you don't have OMEN you cannot raid. ~ Belaide

Deadly Boss Mod

Description:
All the bosses found in instances and raids in game have special abilities. This add-on provides timer bars, warnings and alerts for all of them.

Member comments:
This is a MUST HAVE!! Especially if you are a raider. Deadly boss mod keeps a great timer on the abilities of a boss mod, so it provides a good indicator when you should expect to do something to avoid it, or counteract it. For those in Gruuls Lair, for example, it will tell you when the warlock is casting a felhunter so you can be prepared to control it before it actually starts beating up on a healer. ~ Aloysia
Another must have for instancing, this or at least BigWigs. I prefer the eye candy of DBM, plus it has a nice auto-reply to whispers feature. If someone /w you with "status", it'll give them an auto-reply of instance, boss, and hp remaining. It also as the Battleground stuff built-in. ~ Purson

If you raid without DBM you must somehow be telepathically hacking the server (or possibly using Bigwigs) but aye, its as essential to raiding as your keyboard. ~ Theleb

Absolutely my favorite damage meter to date. Lots of information available to further your personal dps and game-play. Seems to run slightly heavier than other damage meters for me but there is still no substitute to the information it can give you. ~ Nereida

Recount is - according to me - the best for sure, I especially like all the features. I, for example, like being able to see how many shadow bolts I and the other locks throw during a fight, their average crit during the fight and so on to analyze exactly why they or I did the most damage. ~ Evalor

Highly recommended. Converting the combat ratings back to percentages is handy but the real benefit to this add-on is the stat summary at the bottom. It shows you exactly what you gain and lose when you're considering whether a new item is a worthwhile upgrade. ~ Vorph

With the mass of configuration options on this mod, it provides a fantastic way to quickly and easily compare two pieces of gear. Great when considering blowing a lot of gold on an item in AH etc, or when looking at instance/raid loot. ~ Swoop

Dr. Damage

Description:
DrDamage displays the calculated, average damage or healing of abilities with talents, gear and buffs included on your action bar buttons. The add-on will also add various information to the default tooltips in your spellbook and on the action bar.

I use dr. damage to maximize my gear. A lot of times a piece I think would be better is actually worse in terms of DPS. This especially holds true for boss fights. I have a handful of different pieces of gear that I will switch in and out. on some pieces I find that the amount of +damage an item has out weighs the amount of +hit another would give me, so I find Dr. Damage very handy. ~ Magnusram

Yeah, this is a theory crafter type mod. I have used this whilst leveling and learning the class. That is, it lets you know what spells to use to maximize damage or efficiency (DPM). I suppose once you know the in's and out's of lock spells under all talent/gear builds then this mod loses its usefulness. ~ Thralock

I personally find it great to use. It's extremely configurable (so you can stop it from always displaying the spell information breakdown) and you can even specify what theorycraft information you want it to show. For people that aren't into theorycrafting, or aren't as concerned with details of their spell performance, then it's much less useful. ~ Swoop

Hello everyone, I'm kind of new to the forum. I am a little lost as far as getting everything set up for my Warlock (BlueBLLS) he is level 31. I am going to start searching and see if anyone has already fixed my probrlem, but I need to get a UI set up for that character. What does everyone recomend?
