So, time is never really on my side. Certainly not since having Savannah. Theres looking after her all day, maintaining all the housework pretty much on my own (Hubby works 12 hour days), trying to find the energy to cook somewhat healthy and other general errands to run.

On top of that I have The Warlocks Den, which some people may not be aware is pretty much a 1 man show. I have some very helpful moderators recently (although am still missing Vaell, Theleb and Malty as they were irreplaceable), but all of the updating is done by me. And at the moment I am currently working on a new and improved forum look which requires a fair amount of code change.

And, being the silly person I can be sometimes... also decided to go back to school. Actually, I'm hoping this will enable me to get more work from home opportunities, which will see more money coming into the house. That will not only benefit us (obviously), but also enable me to give more back to The Den in the form of giveaways and what not.

But, it's all a lot of work. My day may start at 6:30am, but my work day doesn't start until at least 7pm, sometimes closer to 8. And in those few hours between then and bed I need to cram in as much as possible. I alternate between school work and site work, although I've just been given my biggest assignment yet so am feeling the pressure to put more weight towards school.

I don't get to play WoW anymore. Period. I haven't even logged IN in over 3 weeks. I can't remember when I last played properly. I watch hubby come home and log in each night, play for the 4 hours or so between him getting home and going to bed and sometimes wish I could have it so easy.

But I also enjoy working on the site. I really enjoy writing guides, it's probably one of my most favourite things to do. And because gear guides always get the site a lot of attention (Canadianpimp...), I thought I would tackle the whole 'Best in Slot' guides. I know a lot of people are doing Affliction and Destruction at the moment, but I always have been (and probably always will be) a Demonology kinda gal. So I started with that...

For weeks I asked for help. Even just someone to tell me what stat weights they think are good. As I said, I don't play anymore and have completely lost touch with the game. I needed some guidance since I was, after all, writing the guide for you, the users.

But nothing. Not even an idea of what to use. So I guessed. I used what stats I would go for, and WoWhead spat out the list. It took me 3 solid days to put it all together and get it listed. And really frustrating, unco-operative table work too I might add. Did I expect it to be perfect off the bat? Hell no. But it was a start, something to get it going and hopefully, finally, inspire others to jump in and go "hey, I'd recommend xxx item for the best in slot".

What did I get instead? My discussion thread derailing into goodness knows what, with some people bringing in name calling such as 'childish emo'. <:o Emails completely picking the guide apart and telling me if I was going to do something that wrong, then I shouldn't bother at all. And twitter comments to a lesser degree, but similar. Oh yes, and one tool who told me to stop crying. Because apparently, not reading my twitter posts is too complex for his tiny brain.

Why couldn't some magic genie come down and make it so that every McDonalds meal (or other junk food) I eat actually makes me lose weight. Because at the moment, the only thing I'm helping is fast food share holders. :zip:

    /hug... cause you need it.
I feel where you're coming from with the jealousy over WoW time. Same situation for me, but I work 12's and drive another 1.5 hours. The wife works part time. I just wish I could do more for the site that makes me the "go-to" warlock in the guild.

Ignore them Akasha and give yourself a pat on the back that for every negative comment you might receive, 100 people go away from this site (it's definitely a lot more) a better player from having read what's here.

You deserve a lot more credit than some imbeciles give you.

Wow, and I don't mean the game. Never played a Demo spec or I'd offer to help. I'll figure out a way to help this site. BTW, anybody who can design and maintain such a website as this can make money at it! Ignore the angry people. They're just small! This is one of my favorite websites, you've made an impression on me and I'll remember the name of this site and it's content for years after I log off wow for the final time. Chin up!

don't fret my dear! there will always be a villain to every superhero; if you make the best site on the net and tons of people visit it every day and love it the law of large numbers says there will always be a deviant, somebody won't like it and that's a fact of life, that's their problem, if they don't like it, they can go elsewhere, no one is tying them down. for example Look at the tard who put the malware code on your page a week or so ago. someone will always try to tear you down, but stand tall! just remember you are helping more people than you are ticking off. look at Tanor, the guy who lost his nephew, i read his post from 2 years ago and it seems that venting on this page really gave him strength during that horrible tragedy, that's just shows a fraction of the people that have benefited from this site, not just in warcraft but in real life. in my opinion helping just one person is worth the hate mail and the judgement from the other jerks in the world.

i'm not surprised at the reaction to your guide, it's a great guide but it comes with writing anything on the internet, more people will shoot you then help you and point out errors.

/shrug i guess it's easier to bitch and moan then write a constructive paragraph

The issue here is that certain negative individuals are pushing some of the best authors away *Cough* FALLENMAN *Cough*. Don't let these guys get to you!!

i have to agree with aballahson

fallenman was a victim of the same thing. people really need to learn to hold their tongue when replying to guides and stuff, a little constructive criticism is always good, but bashing is flat out ridiculous.

Don't let the negatives you see make you think that what you're doing is wrong or not worth it. Put on your "filters" and take what you can see is constructive. You're doing the best you can in this rottten time for alot of us (what savings?), so keep on pluging... There's a bunch of good people behind you. many of then with big blue smoky things. /hug

It is far easier for people to take for granted the good things they are given than to notice the work that went into providing them with those things. It is also far easier to pick out the flaws (real or viewed only in the eyes of the beholder) in something than to praise the goodness of something.

I wasn't sure if posting how impressed I was on the the table in that thread would derail the content from its purpose; to help out with BiS Demo gear so I didn't. I am wishing I did now. The table was really helpful to see the stats lined up next to each other. I was wishing there was a nice Destruction guide like that ;)

Havent been on this site for long but it surely helped me allot and i think you are doing a good job, i love a warlock, although i think they are underpowered and being nerfed all the time, its fun and thanks for the tips i got here. If i may add, warlocks are dps characters, they cant be tanks or healer as an second choice, same as mages, we should do the most dps because we specialise in dps. DK-tank or dps and paladin-healer, dps or tank....... That pisses me off

I can't say that I post often (if you could even call it that). However, ever since a college acquaintance found out that I played a lock, and directed me here in spring of '07 (I think :P ), I have been checking the site for some of the best WoW/warlock news, blogs, and topics you could find anywhere. When I was in a raiding guild pre-Wrath of the Lich King, this was the go-to site for our class. If you didn't go over the gear guide and read the forums until you understood the basic mechanics of lock-raiding, you simply weren't worth the spot.

Sadly I haven't had the time play WoW at all this school year (been the full 9 months since I've last logged); however, that hasn't prevented me from coming here religiously. I pretty much check whenever I can spare the moment. No matter what the few may say, MANY people are deeply indebted to this site and appreciate the work that you put into the Den.

No matter how vocal the whiners are.

I'm a confirmed lurker but I'll toss this in.

There are those who'll contribute constructively to anything; those who appreciate the work; and those who want to criticize the work they'll never do themselves.

Feedback is only useful if it's balanced and presents both strengths and flaws.

Without this site I'd be completely clueless on 'locks, with your guidance, and the other posters, I'm now at 77 and into the final straight. Many thanks, couldn't have done it without you. Keep up the good work :-)
