Casual Raiding: What we learned in Kara

Part II in a series of posts about how my guild was able to take casual raiding from Kara all the way into BT without selling our souls.

A lot of the initial issues with moving into kara stems from numbers. You really needed 2 tanks and 3 healers to get in, with little other group consideration aside from a priest for Moroes. However, we all know how hard it can be to find those people. Recruiting is always a pain, and loss will always happen. It's a situation you have to work through,...

Part III in a series of posts about how my guild was able to take casual raiding from Kara all the way into BT without selling our souls.

Before you get into 25-man raiding, you need to make some important decisions. Things like who will lead the raid and who will main tank are pretty obvious and easy to decide on. The big kicker, and the one that will have the most impact on players, is how loot is awarded.

This is one of the more controversial subjects in the game....

Part IV in a series of posts about how my guild was able to take casual raiding from Kara all the way into BT without selling our souls.

DKP is ready, and we've moved into 25-man raiding, and here comes the fun. For this iteration, I am going to use some real examples. We started pushing into 25-mans in June of '07. HKM died July 1st. By the end of November and going into our holiday break, we had killed a total of six bosses. That's 6 first kills in 6 months. We started back raiding...

Casual Raiding: Leading

Part V in a series of posts about how my guild was able to take casual raiding from Kara all the way into BT without selling our souls.

Raid leading isn't what I would consider fun. I was dragged into it because the person who was running our raids was a bit too...verbose in his explanations of fights. I started writing up cliff-notes versions of fights on our website, and spitting those out before the pull. Because I was the one calling targets and assignments and jobs, I ended up...

Crackling Powder

QUIET! I said to myself. I had now been inside this cave of furbolgs for what seemed like days. I am not accustomed to doing favors for others but a man back inside the town of Lakeshire told me he would pay me handsomely for a few copper rivets and bolts. Being as I was short on cash and needed potions and scrolls to further my research I accepted.

I was now hold up in a small room inside there den. It appeared to be a storage room and rivets and bolts lay a plenty not to mention several...
