So if you've read my last post to my blog, you'd know that I'm in the process of looking for a guild. I've had some pretty good success in my search. I put up a few apps and was shocked at the success. I got accepted into five raiding guilds, and was even contacted by a level one alt to put up an app for a 5/5, 9/9 guild on a different server.

I want those readers to weigh in some of your own opinions. I pretty much have 5 options now on guilds to join. I've been up to 6/6 SSC and 3/4 TK when I raided a lot a year ago, but haven't really raided seriously until I intend to this summer and until the expansion at least. I won't be naming exact guild names for privacy purposes, but let me know which one you would join and why.

Guild One
-Progression: 3/6 SWP, raids up to 20 hours a week and uses a DKP loot system
-They are transferring to my server supposedly in a few weeks since many of the PvPers (apparently they have a lot of 2100+ players) want a taste of BG9.

Guild Two
-Progression: SSC and TK clear, 3/9 BT, 2/5 MH, raids 16 hours a week and uses a loot council system
-They are currently on my server.

Guild Three
-Progression: 5/5 MH and 8/9 BT, raids 12 hours a week and uses a DKP loot system
-They are currently on my server. I would have to go through their "farm" guild and do well in there (they are doing the end of T5 content and beginning of T6 content) before getting accepted to the real guild.

Guild Four
-Progression: SSC clear, 3/4 TK, 5/9 BT, 4/5 MH. Raids 10 hours a week and uses a DKP loot system.
-They are on my server.

Guild Five
-Progression: MH and BT clear, 1/6 SWP. Raids 12 hours a week and uses an EP/GP loot system.
-They are not on my server so I would transfer over.

I've narrowed it down to two choices. Of course you don't know my exact situation and feelings, but just looking at that arbitrarily, which one would you choose?

    I would go:

1 - One: Because i love to PvP.

2 - Five: Have heard only good things about EP/GP and with that raid time/progression ratio they seem like the type of raiders I like to be with: Fully prepared for the encounters before the raid.

3 - Tree: It seems possible with em to have short "progression like experience" and then join the main raid force. However i would be careful regarding how long would i need to be on the farm guild and if they actually have a free lock slot aviliable.

As for the last two, both seems like great guilds, and really can't decide with only that info.

Gratz on the success of the post

Hi CPimp, been fan of your gear guide . An important consideration to me would be the population of raiding locks. I mean its no point joining a guild with 5 very active lock and you are the 6th trying to get a spot. You want to join a guild that you have a high chances to raid with, not warm the bench.

That aside, I might lean towards 2 or 5. 2 for the reason that they just started BT and Mt Hy so its not that much a jump from where you left off. You get the wipe with them while learning fights and its always a great feeling kill a new boss for the first time.

5 - for the reason that they have cleared Mt Hy and BT so it will not be that painful learning fights. Also, they probably be concentrating on doing BT and MH then learning SW while trying to finish it b4 expansion. This sort of bring you closer to seeing all end game content b4 expansion.

C, I guess it depends on what role you wish to play in the guild. How much responsibility do you want to take upon yourself as a member? Are you looking for a leadership role someday and if so, how soon?

Usually, the time spent raiding is fairly well tied in to a guild member's rank (or at least, that's the ideal top raiding guilds hold themselves to). So I guess that would be important to keep in mind.

Personally, I wouldn't want my gaming experience to be another job. I would choose Guild 4, which has decent progress with minimal time invested per week.

On a side-note: I was looking at your gear post (a great one, btw) and saw that using the stats from your "max dps" build, the Leulier's spreadsheet calculated a raid-buffed value of 2794.88 DPS. Can you explain how you used the spreadsheet to calculate such a high level, because I am getting values far below what you did.

You can email me at jagoex@gmail.com if you find the time to respond. Thanks.

There is something to be said for going 'home grown' when you can. Unless, of course, you just really need a change of scenery. The only one that stood out to me as a no-go would be the guild transferring over to your server. That has some potential for drama and maybe disgruntled core members etc. Can't quite put my finger on it but I would want a transfer guild to spend some time getting established on a server before joining.

Overall, I like the sound of 3. While 'earning your spurs' in the farm runs might feel odd, it speaks well of the guild that such a system is in place to gauge apps.
