For a little background, I leveled (quite painfully) to 70 on a PvP server, and grew a serious distaste for the stuff. Since my transfer Gnomeregan, I've really been able to shine -- if an evil, maniacal, shadow-obsessed demon-summoner can really "shine".

I enjoy working up my own custom UI, and I build macros to make my game easier. I try to keep abreast of the UI, Addons and Macros subforum. If you have any related questions, I should see them there.
UI Posts about UI's and addons in general, and CormanthorUI of course.

Build a better mousetrap

Posted November 20, 2011 at 06:04 AM by Cormanthor (The Solo Warlock)

So last week, I debated on whether or not to start coding my own addons.

Initially, my reaction was "No, it's a complete waste of time". Why should I add my two cents into a massive pile of other people's addons? There's addons out there to do whatever your evil heart desires. Shouldn't it just be a matter of going out there and downloading the right ones?

Now, in all fairness, I think I should warn you: I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are arranged...

Your view of the world

Posted November 15, 2011 at 04:13 PM by Cormanthor (The Solo Warlock)

I started playing again recently, as I mentioned in my last post. This, of course, came after completely deleting my old WoW installation. So upon reinstalling, I was confronted with the... plain-ness of the default user interface.

Not to say that the default UI isn't playable, but this is my window to the world of Azeroth. I can work with the default UI, but not for any long period of time. I think my max was two days.

So I had to find or build a UI that I could...

Upgrades and the status quo

Posted January 16, 2011 at 09:28 AM by Cormanthor (The Solo Warlock)

It's been over a year since I updated my blog. There's been a cataclysmic end-of-the-world event, trivialization of content in Northrend, and some 'bad guy' at Blizzard apparently set Heroics on... 'HEROIC' again. Go figure!

In that time (read: very recently), I have upgraded my monitor. I now play on a wall-absorbing 32" LCD HDTV. What a difference 3 times the real estate can do for a game! I'll be posting an update of my UI over at the #4 thread once I make a few changes to...

Rebuilding the UI and 3.3 "bugs"

Posted December 14, 2009 at 12:41 AM by Cormanthor (The Solo Warlock)

I've been quite excited about 3.3 since shortly after it's announcement. Several things added to the default UI have helped me axe a few heavy addons. In this spirit, I was looking to move CormanthorUI to a more "fit-n-trim" setup without changing the appearance too much.

Round 1
I tried the latest OpenRDX in an attempt to drop 80% of my addons in favor of one big one. Nothing could be automated the way I wanted without basically coding my own addons. As I built in more...

"Uncle" /cry

Posted November 26, 2009 at 02:44 PM by Cormanthor (The Solo Warlock)

I got WoW to install and run on ArchLinux through the Wine program. Things were going well, and I was in process to switch my UI from its addon-heavy state to a more fit-and-trim setup with OpenRDX. Then it happened...

My hardware was being autodetected fine, once I set my BIOS options to allow ACPI to work correctly. But it would seem that either my PC is on the way out, or autodetecting was not stable. It would switch whether or not it understood ACPI just about every 2 to 3 boot-ups....
