The Blog title is something that you hear a few times in wow when a big baddie is about to die.

It also refers to my wow life. Get the popcorn, blankie and snuggle bear its gonna be a long one I think.

The Lock
So first the easy stuff. I am pretty sure I am going to retire my lock. I love it, but I'd like to try another pure dps class. I got my destro rotation to 10k, but it just seems unnecessarily complicated. I won't mention which class I switched to unless you guys ask in the comments. I figure this is the warlock den and thats the class I should stick to talking about it. I will say I've gotten it to level 40 and haven't regretted it yet.


The Tree
Pretty much gathering dust we are probably one of the few guilds that has too many healers, so it hasn't really been needed. That will change, but I'll come to that


The Guild
If thriving there really isn't anything bad to complain about. We hit level 9 yesterday day and we're all excited to get the to 10 to get the BOA gear. i recruited someone who faction changed to join and while talking in gchat we all had a desire to reroll horde, so a member took there horde guild bank and made it a sister guild.

I was all for this at one point, but I realize I'm a bit of a control freak. I'm not the GM and you can't be a little bit of a GM. Its like being a little pregnant, either you are or you aren't So I haven't done much to help build it up. I'm leaving it up to the person running it to step up and work on recruiting.

We're at about 50+ unique members and 100+ players on the roster. I don't really want to get too big, but we're working to fill out a second raid group, so we'll see. More on that later also.


Raiding
So my master warcrafter has stopped playing wow and he uses my stories to get a remote fix. I told him we were working our way through ice crown and he basically said well good luck, but I don't think you'll be able to down the Lich King.

What I heard was with a 30% buff AND being 5 levels higher than the raid was intended AND having 3 healers you and you're group are too nooby to do it.

And yes that is what he meant.

FOH - Seriously (in my grey's anatomy voice)

It took 3 tries and really it was working out the positioning to deal with defile. So after 2 years, 2 guilds, lots of blogs posts I got my Lich King kill. I don't think its that big of deal. It was more of personal goal that I wanted to see through. Its like getting loremaster or explorer it isn't especially difficult at this point, but it is something you can sit back and say ok I finished.

I also liked experiencing it with 9 other people who hadn't done it before.

So now what?

I remember right after thinking ok we can disband the guild now. I'm good, but now I have a small, moving to medium, sized guild with people I like and newish raiders who want to move into Cata content.

So for most of our raiders afterward I usually don't have the recount to see what happened so I ran a combat log. I wanted to see the uptime on my dots and a few other things.



So of course I don't just look at my stuff and I start noticing things.

- On all the attempt the Off tank (OT) died pretty early in the fight. I think we all thought he was dying to defile but it was too early for that. In the logs he never got healed, not on any attempt. We had 2 druids and a priest, no renew, no shield, no lifebloom, nothing. Maybe a little wildgrowth, but no direct heals.

-So I dug a little further. Of the 3 healers 1 did 55 dispells, another did 11 and another did 0. Because of our dps and huge health pools we didn't have to worry about moving necrotic plague to the adds. It was just easier to burn them down. Master warcraft said we didn't do the fight right. Its a matter of opinion <shrug>. I think I care more that 1 healer didn't cleanse at all.

-Even further there was one interrupt. I dont' think this is as important on this fight, but maybe thats me.

-The dps was ok, but I think it could be better considering hear level.

-Of the deaths we had most were either being carried off by a Val'kyr or not being healed. The being carried off happened because we were trying to avoid defile and were out of range to kill the val'kyr.

-The Pally main tank should have been the OT and the warrior the MT.

TL:DR
We had enough DPS and situational awareness to speed the fight up so we didn't have to worry about losing people to lack of healing.

I wouldn't have known this without the log.

At first I thought it was just they weren't assigned to anyone so they didn't heal, but I think it is more than that.

The other issue is the OT thinking he died for being stupid. You can't heal stupid, but you can also be a stupid healer.

There were no direct heals on anyone who died particularly the OT. Step up your game. None of the necrotic plagues were dispelled or cleansed or whatever on the people who died. Fix it. (it was nicer than this, but that is the gist of it)

No comments, they logged off vent and I felt like a jerk.

blah Was it necessary? yes

I think its a "this hurts me more than it hurts you kinda thing" but it sucks. I am debating whether to leave our "progression group" and focus on the second group (we have more potential raiders and they continually don't get to go anywhere because spots are filled). We have Ruby Sanctum in a few days and then we'll be doing it on heroic, Also we'll be watching for Baradin Hold.

I also have no real feeling about raiding cata content. With wrath I was focused, with Cata it is meh.

I will talk about the other group in another post.
