We all know the old saying, and it always rings true. But after too many years, it's time to move on.

When it comes right down to it, the only pleasure I get from this game is raiding, and that's more about the people than the game. I don't log on except for raid nights. I don't level alts, I don't do dailys. I log in, raid, and then log out. That isn't good for the raid, isn't good for the guild, and as has become apparent, isn't really good for me. We failed. We missed Glory of the Raider by two achievements. In the three to four weeks leading up to the release of 3.1, attendance became very, very flaky. A large part of this was known issues, with term papers and major tests all seeming to land at the same time, as well as a few untimely business trips. This left me scrounging for warm bodies to fill out Immortal runs and 6-minute Malygos kills.

I was wondering if you would mind sharing some more inner workings of ST? Specifically I'm interested in your mechanism for raid signup, what sort of issues you have with player/character rotation and do you run a 1-player-1-character-1-spec system?

For those that remember, this blog was originally about casual raiding in WotLK. To recap, Self Titled raids only two nights a week for about 8 hours total between the two. While this is slightly longer in a single block than many guilds run, it also allows for people to make plans outside of WoW. We aren't one of those guilds that raids Sunday through Thursday. Last night we downed Sartharion with three drakes up, and officially cleared all the raiding content currently available.

One of the biggest things to come in the wake of 3.1 patch notes is the removal of the mount rewards from Glory of the Raider (both versions). While the view from the top, that Ulduar gear will make these achievements too easy to get and too many people will have 310 speed mounts, is a valid point, Blizzard seems to have fallen off it's rocker in regards to separating progressions in 10 and 25-man raiding.
