I've just been assigned by my guild to be one of two recruiting officers for our guild. We are the only ones able to invite toons into the guild so it effectivly makes us in control of the guild environment and the quality of raiders.

Now besides the ussally spam you get in raid chat how to people recruit more raiders? I feel the whole spamming in trade is like getting all the B grade players and slowly shifting through them all to find that diamond in the rough.

Never really thought about how hard it is to find good players to invite into the guild. They are either taken or rarely play on the server your on anyway lol.

And at what means should we test these willing subjects? Should we make them jump through flaming hoops for so sort of hazing or just take them on a raid or 2?

I guess since our guild is somewhat fun to be in and do relatively well in raiding I should just take bribes and let all these puppets in while I play with their strings like all good locks should do.

Let the games begin ......

Usually we start with a gear check, but with the expansion coming gear has not much sense now, apart as a proof that you've been successfull somewhere.
Another thing we do is make people fill an essay on the forum: registering and filling something in a decent way still keeps the very low end away. We then go with an interview ingame where more than anything we take a look at what he's looking for and most of all his attitude. And finally there's a couple of weeks of test.. After all the field is the only place where you can really test someone!

Well, usually the best (imho at least) is making people post on forum. Few questions and 'say something about yourself' to get a feeling on them.

Second is to check their gear: not if they are up to highest tier gear, but what items they picked: wrong itemization, white gems, enchants etc.

After that bring them to a 5 man or heroic where they will have to do more than just spam their rotation. See how fast they are with their role: like warriors, rogues and enha shamans for kicking mechanar robot fist spell or hunters keeping their pet in control. If they don't want to listen in a five man, it is likely you will have problems in raids.

Also it can help to talk with their former guild leader. He might be angry/sad they left, or he might be happy, or something else. But in any case, there could be some info in the conversation.

Our guild has picked up quite a few recruits by letting some of our members, head up some PuGs with some lesser content Ie SSC/TK still need good enough gear but skill is really going to make some people shine vs others in the pug Maybe getting together with an old guild that is more Casual and bringing them with you to start the raid out.

Stuff like that really works well. Just being out in the World with other players not in your guild makes your guild look good and others will want to come to you!!!
