Perri dragged his steed from the deepest darkness, never once thinking about its plight. A quick mount and the Gnome was off towards Loch Modan, the corpses beneath him slowly bleeding into the wasteland dust of the Badlands. Tired but triumphant, Perri could see the greenery of the Loch not more than a miles journey for him. Beating a path that took him away from danger, Perri slowed down to a trot as he approached the valley entrance wanting one last look at the deathly area known rightly so as the Badlands.

His heart skipped a beat as he turned round, as a mounted figure can tearing towards him dust flying up behind. A slight smile appeared on Perri's face as he recognised the colours of the enemy. The time to act was now... Revenge was needed... and Perri had the cheese.

Okay, as this is me posting something must of went terribly wrong, as we all know that Perri's skills only rival that of a house brick. But all the factors were in his favour, a mounted Blood Elf Rogue down to half health, and not paying attention. Oh how the Gods smile....

So the fight was very one sided, as Perri not only had the drop, but was on full health. While the rogue tried to close the distance, Perri managed to avoid too much damage by increasing the distance between by using that random CC, fear...

Only to run into an orc warrior who had full health, and lots of patience. Oh how Perri's little feet pounded that wasteland... but to no avail.

And thus, the rogue survived, the warrior got another kill and Perri is waiting for that "first" PvP kill.

From this encounter (plus another rogue stun, kill that happened half an hour later) I can learn a lot. While all involved were of a similar level, certain classes just aren't suited well for "reactionary" PvP. I managed to control the situation in 1v1, and perhaps this is the sign I've been waiting for. As I have said in a comment, I tend to approach things in a linear way - i.e. in quests I go from A to B, rarely digressing from the path to explore or whatever. This also shows in Perri's talents and rotation; affliction based and a simple macro controlled rotation ( Imm -> Curse of Agony -> Corr -> LifeTap -> Drain Life -> Drain Soul ). This suits the needs of questing, but reactionary combat (i.e PvP) is not catered for, although I have now keybinded Fear and the Gnome racial for ease of use.

My view of WoW is changing, and the fact that PvP combat is becoming more of an issue for me is the reason. I like the thrill of battle, the taste of trying (and failing) to outwit another player, but.... it is very rare that I'm in a situation that I can turn to my advantage. So, my training has just begun. Perri has some way to go before he gets his first blood, but I am enjoying the journey..

And to me, that makes this game.
