World PvP Part IV - "Gnome Lock Still Looking for Elusive First..."

Perri slowly stood up, dropping his cheese board and mug of wine onto the grass below him. He could not believe what had been handed to him by the Gods, an Orc Warlock - alone and running. The smile couldn't be contained anymore, in fact it turned into that sort of laugh reserved for professionals with the title, "Mad Doctor".
"Come to me, you blue fiend...!", Perri screamed as he commanded his voidwalker, but the initiative was slipping, not only had the Orc realised he was not alone, but he himself has started to call forth his demon....
Well, as you can probably guess, things didn't go well for Perri in this encounter (or even the following against a Orc lock two levels lower than him) but it is interesting that I noted the way PvP combat was resolved. Both minions were left to there own devices (in fact Perri's big blue had the upper hand), so it was left for the Orc and Gnome to slug it out. Obviously Fear was used, as well as the various DoTs (and procc'd shadow bolts via shadow trance), but I was defeated due to a simple oversight..
I had no healthstones or potions for the quick heal. The Orc did (lucky so and so)...
Also I should mention that I was trying to use my "normal" rotation, which to be honest is only for mobs not other players. You see, I still have a mentality of "One fits all", and there is a massive difference between PvE and PvP. A rotation that is quick and painless for an average mob leaves you wide open for abuse by even a below par PvP'er. While I had the Orc down to the last few ounces of health, he popped a health top up and managed to come out on top.
Got to admit though, I'm getting used to the graveyard runs and getting the "xxxx spits on you" message.
I'm also let down in my attitude towards gear. Usually, it is +spell power, sta and int stuff in that order, with a bit of +spi thrown in, but I still favour "Of the Eagle" drops over anything else. While I'm now spending a lot of gold keeping my gear as close to up to date as possible (it is thankful that Perri is "friends" with a Death Knight who owes a massive favour to all Gnomedom), it seems that again I'm missing the main focus needed for both survivability in PvP and PvEing without spending all day.
Perhaps I should read a bit more and learn the ropes... I'll get that first real soon...

Yesterday I posted a response to your PvP part II...
... after reading this though I realised I forgot to mention 2 very important things. The first you mentioned here... ALWAYS be prepared... (boy scout stuff). Keep yourself Soul Stoned, always have a Health Stone, Always have Potions.
You don't want to lose just because your adversary has spent the extra 25silver on a decent potion. Although it might hurt to buy them, it hurts more to lose coz you don't have them.
On that note... a little more expensive BUT - if you are going to get the jump on a Rogue (also DK, druid, pally etc)... it's always nice to down a 'Free Action Potion' first. It has obvious benefits... the drawback however is that you will put your health pots on cooldown... but if you're getting the jump.. it's often a fight winner.
And the other MASSIVELY important thing for PVP - pre-emptive apologies for caps but this is a must...
K-E-Y-B-I-N-D E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G !!!!!!!
Clicking is bad - pressing buttons is good. This is your new mantra...lol
Looking forward to PvP number 5 when you post that you got your first blood... no pressure...
