It's a brave new world out there... well not yet, just a few expansion features. Other than the achievement system, the new talent trees and so forth seem generally unexciting, but achievements are addictive, and everyone has their own priorities! The guild has gone absolutely nuts. We badly needed a break from serious raiding, and certain achievements offer an excuse for LOLraiding or at least guild cooperation. They certainly keep guild chat active, whether people are working on them, or just doing their usual relaxation activities. Lenu, for example, is going for 3,000 total achievement points before the expansion, and he'll probably make it.

For myself, I haven't really made an effort for the ones that reward usual activity, like catching so many fish, or looting so many gold, because I'll get those anyways. Haven't had good timing for running heroics either. The ones I'm working on are the Loremaster achievements, and I won't get them done before the expansion. One of my major motivations to get on the PTR was to see how far along I was. Finishing up Loremaster of Outland wasn't hard, but the other two... I'm still working on them.

Loremaster of Kalimdor

It doesn't help that I'm as distractable as a mayfly, and want to go to Sunwell raids and work on the Hallows Eve achievements, and do dailies, and farm soulshards.

But going back and doing low-level quests has actually been kind of fun, even though it's filled my bags with low-level enchanting mats that I can't sell.

I've been able to try new things, like being a tree. I'm like a druid, only better, because I have a pet and Kael'thas' stooges don't notice him (he has Improved Voidwalker Prowl, obviously).

I've been doing morally questionable things like working for gnomes, people who can turn seemingly harmless projects like hair restoration and urban renewal into complete disasters.

Working for gnomes can have harmful side effects. Just sayin'.

In Kalimdor, I saw what happens when you combine goblin and gnomish technology. Bad, very bad.

I'm almost done exploring the world (fortunately, I started years ago). I understand that few or no gnomes were involved in the making of the Dalaran Crater, but it sure looks like their handiwork.

In between, I did not do much fishing, although I did drink heavily. Can you tell which is me and which is the felhunter?

And I also went to one of those parties that we don't tell Jive about.

God is dead, we killed Him ourselves. Well, only one of the old gods, who don't count anymore.

And then I get back and find out that my imp has made all kinds of trouble. Before the Impish Liberation Front got ahold of them, Blizzard's lead developers read and wrote English fluently, paid attention to office memos, and were mathematically proficient. Now look at them:
There's a reason we leave mind control to priests! If we wanted minions who are dumb, we'd be hunters! So it's back in bottle for Jubs for the forseeable future. Off to make some Captain Rumsey's Lager!

Very entertaining blog, Warpy! Makes me wish I was home working on achievements instead of at work. But you really need to keep your imp in line - he is a very bad influence!

Achievements bring out a lot of folks' inner OCD demon. Case in point, my stupid paladin half-brother has been running around exploring everything, collecting idiotic pets, and hanging out in Scholomance reading dusty history books when he should be out grinding gold for my epic mount! >_<
