Switching from Alchemy to Tailoring

Curious if folks think it would be a huge waste to switch from alchemy/herb (both 375) to herb/tailoring or possibly tailoring/alchemy to get shadoweave & spellstrike sets. I've heard pros and cons both ways.

Re: Switching from Alchemy to Tailoring

I was previously 375 herb/alchemy, dropped herb for tailoring.

You will definitely want tailoring if you plan to do any serious raiding, the FSW and spellstrike will last you until you can get the t5 set.

As for which profession to drop, it's your call. If you intend to earn cash keeping herbing is better. I kept alchemy for my guild and farm dailies for cash.

Re: Switching from Alchemy to Tailoring

I'm willing to put good money on the fact that you know an Elixir-specced Alchemist, so if your herbs are for personal comsumption ( ) then drop Alchemy for Tailoring and you'll still have the option to get pots made for raids, while being able to sell herbs on the AH.

If not, dropping Herbalism for tailoring is a grind but still viable. Ok, you have to buy herbs (or get an alt Herbalist?) from the AH but the point to bear in mind is that I spent a lot of money on recipes for my Alchemist and it would be far more expenisve to try to re-level that once dropped, than to re-level a gathering profession.

In either case, tailoring really is so very hard to beat for a Raiding Warlock that I actually dropped mining for it, and levelled a toon to gather ores.

A bit extreme, but its one solution.

Re: Switching from Alchemy to Tailoring

I didn't have any rare recipes, so when I saw all the very awesome crafted stuff, I dropped Alchemy and picked up Tailoring (but kept herbs). Herbalism has helped fund my epic mount, and now I mostly use it to farm mats for flasks.
