Inscription mats

The new Wrath of the Lich King professin "inscription" sounds pretty cool. I was wondering though, what will they make as the mats for it though? Anyone have any guesses on what Blizz might do?

I guess it would have to be ethier an resource node type thing you gather lke, in mining.
Or could it be something that drops off mobs you have to farm for mats?
Of course based on what inscription is I wonder if it might evenuse the same mats enchanting does (though due to the effects on the economy I think blizz would not allow this)

Re: Inscription mats

Well, thats indeed an interesting question.

First of all, i would also guess that they do not implement a new resource and gathering skill. If they would do it, then this would mean that big bunches of lvl70 chars would have to start raising the new gathering-skill in the lowbie-areas which would probably cause a lot of whining. In addition to that, it would require a lot of work from blizz side to implement all these new nodes to all areas of the game.

So if we look at the existing resources, we could think about their current uses. Mining is used by JC,Blacksmith and engineers. Herbing is only used by Alchemists. This would somehow hint to herbs playing a role in itfor more Balance.

Another option for Blizz would be to take various products from all tradeskills to be needed. As an example you could need "12 Arcane Dust, 1 xy Gem, 3 primal Fire and and a mithril tube" to do inscription xy. in that case all existing prefessions could be made more usefull and/or profitable by generating stuff which is needed by inscriptors.

Re: Inscription mats

So true: most professions need mats from "other" professions too. Engineering for example, to make a pair of goggles you might need, herbs, gems, metal bars, leather... etc.
