Selling my Shadowcloth CD
Just a quick question, how much (either by general rule, or formula, or educated guess) would one sell their shadowcloth cooldown for? This isn't for selling to guildies, but people on trade chat looking to get their FSW et al. just that little bit faster.

Re: Selling my Shadowcloth CD
My guess is to see about how much the cloth is going for on the AH and then sell it for about that price. I would say 40-50g, but I don't know how much it goes for on your server and if that is too pricey or too cheap.

Re: Selling my Shadowcloth CD
I would agree that it is what the market will bear. But since shadow cloth is not just the cooldown but about the time farming for netherweave, the arcane dust to create imbued netherweave, and the time farming for the primals needed for shadow cloth, then it's really more like the price difference between buying the mats and the actual shadow cloth cost on the AH that would be what the cooldown itself costs.
With that said, that's probably not the whole story. Last night on my server, I saw primals trying to be sold for about 15g a pop which would be 30g for 2 primals needed, and the cloth being about 40g or so. And the arcane dust to make the imbued netherweave plus the netherweave itself is probably like 10g. So I think the cooldown isn't worth too much on my server. Maybe it is if you are a shadowweave tailor though. In that case you get 2 cloth for the same mats, so if you sell someone your cooldown and they give you the mats for 1 shadow, then you'll actually make 2 and theoretically be able to keep one for free (and then sell THAT for 40g -- that's where you'll make the profit for "selling" your cooldown for free). So it's possible a shadowweave tailor would do the work for free because they get the two-fer. But no other tailor would want to do that. I could be wrong since I've only just started making shadow cloth 2 nights ago and only just started paying attention the prices. So the short term trend might not be the long term trend. Especially as it seems people cannot buy gold so easily this week due to Chinese New Year holidays (gold farmers are all on vacation!). The economy has probably gone closer to normal and people actually may need to be more frugal with their gold instead of some people not thinking 2x about dropping 1000g when they can just buy more. At least temporarily. |

Re: Selling my Shadowcloth CD
yeah,I was assuming you would be specced for the shadow cloth. Not many people just want to buy the cooldown if you are not specced for it.

Re: Selling my Shadowcloth CD
I'm shadow spec & its generally around the 5-10G (for the cooldown only) though the demand for shadow cloth has dropped as poeple move further through the game etc

Quote:
Anyway, overall, I think at least on my server, cool down is worth next to nothing. What is worth it is that if you are a shadow tailor, the mats to make shadow cloth cost the same as it is to sell ONE shadow cloth on AH. So if you make two out of the mats, you are making one for free. So it's a bonus to still be a tailor and be able to get an extra cloth out. For sure, when I just turned 70 while I had already made multiple cool downs worth of shadow cloth, I had to buy a lot of the remaining. I wasn't about to wait 16 or 20 more days of cooldowns to get my FSW set. So farming for primals was really the way to go for me to get money to be able to afford the shadowcloth so I could avoid the cooldown. Now, as soon as I have enough shadowcloth for ebon shadowbag, I'll probably just be selling the rest of the shadowcloth I make or holding onto it to be nice to a new warlock leveling up to 70. But you know us warlocks... when were we ever known to be "nice"? .... |

Re: Selling my Shadowcloth CD
When selling a cooldown you get the buyer to provide the mats and you charge just for the service, so to speak. For your specialist cooldown (the one that gives you two peices of cloth rather than one) the going rate is about 10g, for other cooldowns it is 5g. Don't be scared to haggle though, you could easily get a bit more

Re: Selling my Shadowcloth CD
Personally, I'm using the CD to create two pieces of Shadowcloth, selling them, and buying two pieces of Spellcloth for the expansion - no-one is going to offer me enough money to make it worthwhile selling the CD but I have been known to lend it on occassion
