If I drop tailoring...
will I lose my FSW or just the set bonus. I want a gathering profession (I refuse to drop Enchanting, 375 was too big of an investment..) but I reeeeaaally don't want to drop tailoring on;y to find myself looking at a naked toon as soon as i do. I think I would die lol -_- If you do know the answer, not that I don't trustsya, but I would like to see a source please

Re: If I drop tailoring...
If you look at the FSW sets, they say "Requires Shadoweave Tailoring" on them. That right there means that if you're not Shadoweave spec, and additionally not a tailor at all, then you will not be able to wear the pieces.

Re: If I drop tailoring...
Raszahk is correct and Utilla has a point
if you're wowing for the long term dropping any crafting profession is a rather bad idea...... unless off course you enjoy lvling to 375 4xx 5xx and whatever the new caps may be in expansion Z if you look at 2.4 JC is getting some love in the BOP department and blizz has said before they will continue down this path ( wether it's as OP as the tailoring set is arguable ). |

Re: If I drop tailoring...
The best robe in the game as of patch 2.4 requires tailoring to be obtained ...
Sunfire Robe 236 Armor +36 Stamina +34 Intellect 3xRed Sockets (Socket Bonus: +5 Spell Damage) Equip: Improves spell critical strike rating by 40 (1.81% @ L70). Equip: Improves spell haste rating by 40 (2.54% @ L70). Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 71. Pattern: Sunfire Robe is currently not BoP and the robe doesn't require tailoring to be worn. So in theory one could drop tailoring after getting this robe made. Now if your guild doesn't have BT/MH on farm currently chances are slim that these will make it to the AH (due to timing of release & anticipated release of Wrath of the Lich King), but not outside the realm of possibilities. |

Re: If I drop tailoring...
Dropping tailoring is a bad idea...I think the gear pattern of crafted epics being somewhat powerful will be a trend continued in Wrath of the Lich King.

Re: If I drop tailoring...
Interesting topic. As of now I have alchemy/herbalism as a cloth user and a warlock should i drop herbalism/alchemy in favor for jc/tailoring to get better gear? Any thoughts on that? As it is now I really dig this combo since it is easy to level and me as a cloth user really need healing potions.

Not sure if you're still level 24 or not, nor do I know if this is your 1st/only toon. I'd recommend new players to level with 2x gathering professions ... herbalism/mining/skinning. The extra gold that is accumulated from gathering professions typically far outweighs any benefits that might be had if you had a production craft (alchemy, tailoring, jewelcrafting, etc). Production crafts can be fun/fulfilling, but they are typically a gold sink. For example, the gold that you could make from herbalism might be mostly diverted making potions/elixirs, etc that you might not really need. The tailor-only (binds on pickup) items crafted prior to level 70 are: * Robe of Power (level 33 | +14 spell damage), with all of the changes made to gear fairly easily obtained around that level, this robe isn't even worth mentioning * Robe of the Void (lvl57 | +46 spell damage), the cost of the pattern and effort/gold required to obtain mats to make the robe hardly make this worth obtaining |
