PvP char, drop 375 tailor for JC?
So Ive pretty much decided to strictly pvp with a little instance running. Im a shadowcloth tailor. Im really only interrested in making gold. Im also a miner. I know I'll lose FSW set, but dont use in pvp. Thoughts??

My priest is a JC, and so far it has been a huge gold sink. Now that my lock has his epic flappy he can fund her. You can make some of it back in the AH, but not to the extent that it can be self funding.
Oh, and you will need the mining. Big style. :D |

Re: PvP char, drop 375 tailor for JC?
JC *is* a money sink while leveling it, and some of the mid-level mats (Blue Sapphire, Huge Emerald, Azerothian Diamon) are hard to come by.
It can, however, pay off in the long run, with or without mining. With mining, you'll need to spend an hour or two gathering enough ore to prospect (costs time). Without mining, you'll need to buy ore off of the auction house (costs gold). Either way, if you're serious about making money with it, you'll spend at least a half-hour at the AH twice a day (three times a day is better), and probably another half-hour each day prospecting and cutting. You can make good money this way, but you're not going to get rich quick with it. Over the last four weeks, I've spent 15k g buying mats, sold them for 20k, and currently have 1k g in mats (figure 2k g in sales) sitting in my bank. That's 6kg profit and 5k g cashflow in four weeks (about 107g / hour given the time I spend on it). You could make that grinding outside of BT, so you need to ask yourself if the 3k g initial investment for training is worth not having to grind for an hour a day. |

Yeah, JC has the best time:gold ratio, but you need to invest 10-15k before you really start making money. I'm up to about 1.5-2.5k/week profit, off of 12-15k total sales. I was really poor for a long time though.

Re: PvP char, drop 375 tailor for JC?
My first char is JCer/miner... tbh.. its worse than leveling enchanting to me. But once I started my lock gold became an easy thing... I just never farmed motes or waited on my cloth CD for my FSW set. I still dont have my epic flyer (for the lock) .. but I always spoile her with stuff i never thought of getting.... eg.. drakmoon card: cursade.
My druid never bothers with mining anymore (sort of ah bitch now...except he's lev 70)... just hopes for the best.. buy a few stacks a day.. prospect, cut and sell.... I also buy raw metas and cut them (at least making 40g profit a cut).... on the long run... i dont know anything that makes gold like JC. I wish I can pick up JCing and drop tailoring on my lock.. since Im like you.. pvping mostly... but hell.. I will never level up JC again... such a bitch... not really worth the extra stats from BOP gems... just like enchanting... not worth the + all stats on rings... just not worth it. I'd rather spend my time playing now. |

Have you checked the prices of heavy knothide, lately?
With the speed at which we can farm, killing mobs isn't the problem. The clefthoof in Nagrand are plentiful around Garadar and are begging to be slaughtered wholesale. The time will be spent actually skinning. I don't have a skinner, but a guildie who is and I farm there at least twice a week - I kill, he loots. He seems to be doing very well with it. |
