Re: Engineering? Which Class?
Not sure what you mean by "which class can I take to get engineering"?
![]() But, for you other question, mining goes very well with engineering. And later on, when you get to decide gnomish or goblin, think of it this way; Gnomish Engineering- Trinkets. Some seriously awesome, most are not. But good fun either way. Goblin Engineering- Bombs, explosions, and bigger bombs. |

Re: Engineering? Which Class?
I'm guessing you have lock, druid and a shaman doing tailoring, enchanting, mining, jc, alchemy and herbalism.
So you want to make a toon which is an engineer. Any class can be an engineer ofc. I suppose the root question is: what class should I roll next (apart from lock, druid and a shaman)? you've got a choice of:
If you like the diversity of your Shaman and Druid, maybe go with a Paladin. Bottom line: Try a few out. Maybe make them all miners. See which you like the best up to around level 20 and stick with it. At least you'll have lots of ore to sell off or help the one you decide on. Goggles are kinda the common / defining item and you'll get the chance to make them that are specifically useful to your class at the higher end of the profession. I think your second profession could depend on the class you pick. Blacksmith if it's a plate wearer for example. I'd personally make it a second miner unless you want to spend a lot of time mining on your main. EDIT: hehe you posted while I was writing this. Last edited by Vaell; March 18, 2008 at 01:24 PM. |

Re: Engineering? Which Class?
I have engineering on my lock and it has been a great help. There is alot of cloth head gear that you can make with engineering as you are leveling and some that are great for casters. I would imagine that mages, priests, and locks would find the bombs and offensive weapons very useful also, especially a holy priest who doesn't have alot of offense. Great profession for hunters as well for making ammo, guns, scopes, etc. The greatest benefits I have received is lockpicking (seaforium charges), reviving (goblin jumber cables xl), and getting nice head gear. I'd have to pick mining for the 2nd profession since you will need mats on a consistent basis unless your other characters can spare enough.

Re: Engineering? Which Class?
I rolled a rogue as my alt who is now a maxxed engineer. I like to pvp randomly so having the toys that come from engineering make this a bit more fun for me.
Also if in a run and its a wipe, i can vanish then try my jumper cables on the rezzer... a hunter would also be good for this with Feign. Has saved a lot of time doing GY runs for our group. Also whatever class you decide you will be able to make an epic headpiece that you wont need to replace for a long time. |

Re: Engineering? Which Class?
Engineering... Really, its more of a fun profession. However, it can be very useful. The goggles, as Atrophy mentioned, are incredibly useful. Most of them allow you to zoom, have increased stealth detection, see mote clouds, in addition to the regular attributes, which are not shabby at all by themselves. More than anything, tho, engineering is a hybrid profession. It allows you to do stuff you wouldn't normally be able to do, at least in a limited function. Rogues do well with engineering, or so i think. It adds a bit of flavor to pallys. And mages are cool with it too. It adds a few more abilities to their already potent arsenal. I don't know about druids and shammies, never having played either beyond a few lvls. (I just got bored. Call me weird, but I don't like the gameplay)
