new warlock + tailoring

Hi everyone, I'm not sure where this fits so..sorry if I'm wrong. I'm 61 lock atm, I have tailoring + enchanting. Nowadays everyone says it isn't useful anymore to the FSW, since there is better gear now. .What should I do? drop out tailoring? Or will I find some good recipes? I'm new to WoW and I've never had a level 70..

my lock right now has tailoring at level 65. I'm already 70 with a bunch of epics and some blues. I highly doubt I will take the time and money to max it out unless Wrath of the Lich King brings tailoring some better items.

Re: new warlock + tailoring

Personally, I leveled my lock to 64 and then refused to level her anymore until I'd made her the full FSW and Ebon Shadowbag.

Tailoring is a tough decision to make. FSW will save you some time and some heroics or other instances you'll have to try and run for gearing your toon. If you plan on being affliction then FSW is very nice because all those tiny heals do add up over time.

Do you need to be a tailor and a lock? No. Does it make your like easier? Argueable. However, one other thing to consider is the fact that yes, if you raid or do hardcore pvp you will probably replace the full FSW set before Wrath of the Lich King comes out. But, what will Wrath of the Lich King offer tailors in the future. Tailoring with The Burning Crusade has become alot better from before. Maybe Wrath of the Lich King will make it that much better. As it is right now there is only one type of cloth that is projected for the new Xpac, Frostweave. Plus there will be a new type of badge system.

Overall, it's a tough decision and personally I'm glad I kept tailoring for my lock.

Keep tailoring. Not only is it nice to have at 70, it's bound to get buffed in the expansion imo and at the least, will undoubtedly be useful when you hit 80.

Re: new warlock + tailoring

You don't need to make the full Shadoweave set, I personally only made the boots and shoulders.

Besides, Spellstrike Pants's pattern drops rather often from Slabs along with a smattering of other nice gear. Why waste the drop?

Not sure if it matters, but with being a tailor, I always found myself being behind with my first aid.

This is true, but first aid is very easy to powerlevel.

Re: new warlock + tailoring

I'd personally get the FSW for the healing set bonus. I plan going demo with my FSW set bonus of 2% healing and my two piece t5 set bonus for healing my pet (gloves + pants) to help with the questing/grinding in wrath.

Re: new warlock + tailoring

FSW is a perfect start for a lock just turned 70 just for pure damage stats (I'm not too impressed with the healing bonus, 6-8 on a DoT tick and up to 80 on a SB crit) . Combined with Spellstrike (for hit and damage) of Battlecast (for stats and damage) sets gives you a nice gear for Kara, where you can find nice upgrades.

I personally got Shadoweave tailoring and made my first cloth at 61 lv, really easy to get to the Altar of shadows in SWM at that level, so by the time you reach 70 you could get at least 2 parts of the set.

For the full set - make Primal Mooncloth on CD together with the Shadowcloth, and trade it for Shadowcloth.

Re: new warlock + tailoring

In the time that it takes you to get the badges for the new and better gear, you'll have wished you had the FSW. It's a fantastic set and I don't know why you would opt to not have it unless you were in a guild that could push you through content very quickly and were already farming SSC/TK type stuff. It IS kind of a pain... it's tailoring. Woohoo. We make bags and that's it really. Sure some spellthread here and there and the occasional Vengeance Wrap, but all-told it's a profession slot given up for your FSW.
