Worth dropping Tailoring for Engineering?
Hiya guys, my locky is 59, soon to be 60.
He has 300/300 enchanting with almost all the recepies i can learn, learnt! I wanted to keep this proffession due to the whole enchanting your own rings thing. Atm I also have tailoring, this is also 300/300 with alot of recepies learnt, including mooncloth, some blues, and robe of the void. I am not actually using any of my tailored items atm due to the fact that: a) All the items I have received from quests have been better than anything I can tailor. b) I don't have the demonic runes yet to make robe of the void. I have been looking at engineering for a while, the turbo-charged flying machine looks like a laugh, but on the serious side, some of the other items I can make such as. Foremans enchanted helmet: http://www.wowdb.com/item.aspx?id=23838 Rocket boots xtreme lite http://www.wowdb.com/item.aspx?id=35581 Goblin rocket launcher http://www.wowdb.com/item.aspx?id=23836 and Night invulnerability belt http://www.wowdb.com/item.aspx?id=23825 Seem to outweigh high tailored items such as the frozen shadoweave set: http://www.wowdb.com/spell.aspx?id=26758 http://www.wowdb.com/spell.aspx?id=26756 http://www.wowdb.com/spell.aspx?id=26757 As they can be replaced by PVP or high teir sets, whereas some of the engineering items will always come in handy. Note: I am currently leveling as demo spec, however when 70 will be deciding whether to try out sl/sl, or go back to destruction. Thanks in advance for all advice received =) |

Re: Worth dropping tail for engin?
The only FSW peice I wore for an extended peroid of time was the boots, HMGT shoulders and robe worked better for me as destro (still wearing the robe). Kinda nice to make your own bags but again you can only make yourself so many bags. I havent even tried using tailoring to make money on my server as the profit margin looks very small if there is any at all.
Now funy thing is the lure for me to engineering would not be any of the things you listed...... It would actually be the Holo-gogs. If you havent seen those yet take a look, there HIGH up on canadianpimps gearing list for head slot items. Im guessing thsat would prob put you over the top if you havent already seen them. Keep in mind engineering is a little tougher without mining, unless you have an alt miner/bs or someone to get your ores. |

Re: Worth dropping tail for engin?
Short version is, FSW set is good enough to last you easily into Tier 5 content, so that's nothing to discount. If you're at 300 tailoring already, it might be worth taking all the way to 375, especially because we don't know what good stuff the expansion will bring to us tailors.
That said, I recently rolled a rogue alt who is an engineer (my first one) and I am having a blast with it! I never realized (even with two years playing under my belt) just how much cool stuff engineers can make. However, I also have multiple 70s who can feed gold and mats to level it and I've heard that engineering is one of the biggest money sinks until it's maxed. Just keep that in mind... ![]() |

Re: Worth dropping tail for engin?
I actually dropped enchanting for engineering. I am now at 334 tailoring/250 engineering. Of course, I have a 70 hunter that I mine with so that helps.
![]() Engineering has been a lot of fun and I would never drop tailoring as a cloth wearer. Just my 2-cents.. ![]() |

Re: Worth dropping tail for engin?
Goggles that are on par with T6, or FSW that you replace with badge gear.. hrm. Not really a decision imo. Plus engineering to 350 is SO much easier than tailoring to 375.
