Change to Alchemy?
I'm having a huge problem right now. I've been trying to level up my tailoring and enchanting for a while now, and it's going so slow its not even funny
. and the worst part is: I DON'T EVEN USE THE STUFF I MAKE!!! When i was trying to level my rogue I was using alchemy and herbalism, and i was always able to use potions i made, and even if all i had was herbs i didn't need, i could sell those for a couple silver (and some extra scratch is always good). should i switch over to alchemy on my lock? or should i stick it out? |

Re: Change to Alchemy?
I leveled all the way to 70 with mining and skinning on my lock, then decided I wanted the fsw set so dropped skinning for tailoring and leveled it in about 6 days at the cost of around 800g.
It always helps to have a gathering skill, but I guess enchanting is like a gathering skill and tailoring is great for a lock at max level. |

Re: Change to Alchemy?
If you don't have a main in the realm change to 2 gathering professions, then switch to the ones you want at 70.
Enchanting is not a cheap profession to level. That is if you want to be efficient, personaly i lvled my first toon with alchemy/enchanting, but it was long and painful compared to herbalism/mining/skinning. |

Re: Change to Alchemy?
The four gathering professions of herbalism/mining/skinning/fishing are the best ways to make cash at lower levels. Also I would recommend if you have an idea of what profession you plan on taking at 70, send half of what you farm to a bank alt. An example would be if you are going to choose Alchemy then put a stack of X herb in the AH to make some cash, then put a stack in the bank for quick and cheap power leveling at 70. I did this on a Druid of mine and it made leather working go smooth and easy at 70. Also look up the mats for items you might want to craft and get to know what they require and how many of X you will need. That way as you come across them like essences and later on primals you can put them in the bank. This will save you a lot of time and money at 70 getting the items you need to level a craft up.

Re: Change to Alchemy?
If you want to keep enchanting, you should keep tailoring imho. Having tailoring helps with mats to fuel your enchanting profession. Basically, you'd DE what you make for enchanting mats. I leveled the two together pre-The Burning Crusade. Out of shortsightedness when The Burning Crusade came out, I dropped tailoring because it wasn't giving me much of a returned and went with JC. Now, I'm debating if I should drop my 375 JC which I rarely use for Tailoring which would give me FSW which is a discussion on another thread.
As some one said, if this is your first toon or first toon on a server, I would definately agree that you should have 2 gathering profession to build a good cushion of gold before picking up other ones. I would suggest mining and herb for max profit or mining/herb and skinning so you don't have to search for both. Majority of mining fuel blacksmithing, engineering, and jewelrycrafting. Herb fuel alchemy mostly. V ![]() |

Re: Change to Alchemy?
For what it's worth, I recommend you keep tailoring and pick up a gathering profession to go with it (i.e. mining/herbalism/skinning). I used some of what I made as a tailor, so it is a skill you should be using. This is especially true when you enter into the 40's and can wear the shadoweave set:
Armor - Items - World of Warcraft Take a look at C-pimps guide for more info: Gearing Your Warlock (2.4 Edition) - The Warlocks Den Forums When you hit 70, then drop your gathering profession and pick up enchanting/jewelcrafting/engineering and have some fun. ![]() |

Re: Change to Alchemy?
Well, enchanting is what i really don't want. I like alchemy because its always been useful, and I can see where tailoring will be useful down the line, but i don't want to just grind to 70; I want to do something on my way up there. And efficiency really hasn't been a issue for me. And i guess i can always use that rouge for gathering since he isn't really doing anything.

.I noticed that you said your rogue is an alchemist. If I may ask, why would you want two (2) alchemists? If you don't want enchanting, then pick up something else like engineering or jewelcrafting when you hit 70. Engineering is a lot of fun, especially if you want to PvP. Either way, you should pick up mining right now, and do what a previous poster said: put some of the ore you gather on the AH and save up the rest for when you switch professions. That will ease the financial burden of powerleveling a craft at level 70 (it can get very expensive if you can't gather the mats yourself). |

Re: Change to Alchemy?
Actually I meant that i could use the rouge for gathering professions instead of just having two alchemists, so i could finance leveling alchemy on my lock. But I do see what you mean. I'll put some more thought into it and see what i can come up with.
