what to choose
I'm new to WoW and am currently leveling my first human warlock. Right now I'm about a 35, and I have tailoring an enchanting as professions. I am pretty much constantly grouped with my boyfriend the rogue, who does mining and blacksmithing.
There are lots of threads on here about my dillemma, but i can't seem to come to a conclusion! Should I switch to herbalism/alchemy? Enchanting and tailoring really isn't making me too much money, and that's my main issue. I have a best friend who's a tailor, so I figure I can always pay her to make things for me when I need them majorly later on. but paired with my boyfriend's professions, whats a smart move to make a lot of gold, and have it be useful to our characters? |

Re: what to choose
In my opinon Tailor/Ench works fine, I dont run out of money alot when I'm leveling, but then again I dont buy much stuff from AH. Your boyfriend, though, should change proffessions (in my opinion) either swap blacksmithing to engineering, jewelcrafting or skinning (skinning is for serious moneymaking :P)
Blacksmithing doesn't give much good things for a rogue. Ofc, he can sell the things he makes (though i think you would make more money from selling the ores/bars), or you can disenchant them but blacksmithing is one of the most expensive things to level. *Edit* He could change to skinning and leatherworking if he wants to make things that he can use, but in my opinion LW doesn't give that much good stuff. |

.I am curious as to a few things. First of all, why is your bf a rogue blacksmith? There are a few nice upper end items he can use, but nothing that justifies the huge money sink that blacksmithing is. This is what I would do personally: Keep tailoring because the future items you can make from it will be very nice. It also requires little to no gathering for materials. Drop enchanting and pick up alchemy. I say this because you can always use potions, and transmutes later on will be priceless. Then I would have your boyfriend drop blacksmithing and pick up herbalism. This way, the herbs he gathers can level up your alchemy and you both can use the potions and sell excess materials/potions for a profit. Note that your bf should take herbalism, otherwise you will be forced to buy herbs to level up alchemy. Enchanting will not make you any money at all until you are in the 300+ range, and blacksmithing is the biggest money sink in WoW (IMHO). Good luck. ![]() |

So very very true.

The Gatherer addon is great for this type of situation. |

ah yes, i forgot about Armor enchantments(enchantments or enhancements?) and drums of war/battle, you can get some decent money there. But if you just get the mats (wich you can get if you just have skinning) those few G's fee isn't much. Btw, in my opinion you level too quickly to have that gear being worth it (I dont know the mats for the Stormshroud though). As soon as you hit 58 you'll have better gear.

Re: what to choose
I don't normally go to outland until I hit 60. This allows me to not get knocked off my level 40 mount all the time by mobs, and it gives me the opportunity to fare better against those mobs. But I do see what you are saying. I actually made the Stormshroud set as kind of a tribute to the old days, kind of like the Robe of the Void for a warlock.....they look cool but are replaced at 58-60....

Re: what to choose
Aha, makes sence ^^
On my 'lock i had no problems though, but my warrior had severe problems with overaggroing and dying. However it was still better than Azeroth (in my opinion). |
