Tailor In WOTLK

Is tailor as important to start off as it was in BC? Because of the tailored items we got a huge jump. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

From what I've done so far in the beta (which admittedly isn't all that much) I can say that if you're already a 375 tailor, keeping it for Wrath of the Lich King will be just as useful as it was when going into BC if you aren't going in with T4/5/6.

Could use some more patterns, but eh, we're in Beta right now.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

Well the coolest new boon to tailors are flying carpet mounts.
Also since all professions are getting new passive bonuses you can expect something there. I was thinking we may even get arena usable nets(I was thinking this because of the new arena usable potions for alchemists).

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

There's tailored epic sets which I imagine will be essential starter gear for anyone intending to raid. I don't think they'll be as powerful as the FSW set but they still look pretty good. Let's face it, you'd rather be heading into Naxx with a few shiny epics instead of blues and greens.

Check out Tailoring - WotlkWiki - Wrath of the Lich King Information

It may just be me, but I'm pumped about Red Lumberjack Shirt - Item - World of Warcraft

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

Anyone know if the tailored epic sets are BoE or BoP? Wowhead has them down as BoE but that would be a bit of a departure.

They will most likely require you to be a tailor specialized in that certain type of cloth. So the BoE or BoP part isn't really a big deal.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

Honestly, we get a unique cloak enchant and cheaper leg enchants but no BoP set as of today. The epic items revealed yet are BoE and not even a tailor only set bonus like with spellstrike. Pretty weak imho (being a tailor myself).

Gimmicks are nice, but to be a tailor for the carpet is a little bit too extreme for me.

My opinion: VERY weak, first they introduce a somehow sophisticated specialization system for The Burning Crusade and told us about more items for the 3 directions for The Burning Crusade and since now (6 weeks to launch) we don't get any BoP/specialized item even in the next add-on...

I somehow wonder if it's really so complicated to implement some okayish set for each spec and make it upgradable like we also got promised back in the day (comparable to weapon for armorsmiths). *sigh* Sometimes I think Blizzzard is just lazy :-). Doesn't have to better than tiers, probably a *little* weaker. The Raid BoP/BoE or BoE/BoP patterns (Sunfire etc.) didn't change that and did NOT use any specialization.

Sure, we will get double cloth for each direction, but that's not a big deal imho.

Reference:

Tailor epic items:
Hit Rating ebonweave - Wowhead Search
Spirit moonshroud - Wowhead Search
Haste spellweave - Wowhead Search

Ebonweave looks like a good raid jumpstart for warlocks.

Normal spellthreads:
Pattern: Sapphire Spellthread - Item - World of Warcraft
Pattern: Brilliant Spellthread - Item - World of Warcraft

Reputation required, needs Frozen Orb.

Tailor only spellthreads:
Master's Spellthread - Spell - World of Warcraft
Sanctified Spellthread - Spell - World of Warcraft

No Frozen Orb (non-BoP Primal Nether equivalent in Wrath of the Lich King)

Tailor only cloak enchants (YES, they make melee powerlevel tailor only for this...):
embroidery - Wowhead Search

The damage is pretty nice I think.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

Yeah I'm actually looking into Leatherworking. The bracer enchants they get are insane. Not to mention I would be able to use drums then too.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

Drums are getting nerfed, tinitus effect, only 1 ? usage per boss fight if I am correct. I mus admit though that +67 spellpower is 37 more than what you get from the new "standard" enchant. Somehow I feel that the DPS increase of the cloak enchant might be higgher though...
Funnily enough, the LW enchant itself does make it souldbound but doesnt require LW. Tailor cloak enchant do require Tailoring now to be current profession. Blacksmiths can add sockets to some of their slots... No, I don't think so.
