Re: Tailor In WOTLK

From a strickly gear improvement standpoint, tailoring isn't worth building up for the ebonweave set when you can run heroics and get better from badge gear. (emblem). Tailoring provides you with spellthread, a flying rug...and...not much else. Embroidery is useless for a lock. The patterns provided are junk. The drops from dungeons...unless they add them in a future patch, you are getting any. There are non-listed anywhere.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

The ebonweave set is not that far behind the t7 chest and gloves which can be purchased for 140 badges in reality i can run maybe 3 HC's a day and not everyday of the week so thats almost a month of running HC's to get the T7 gloves and chest where i can go and buy or make the mats to make the ebonweave set right now and head into naxx hit capped and with substantial ammount of sp and grab my T7 set from there.

The T7 set only really becomes really good when you get the 4 peice bonus

Ebonweave
182 sp
119 hit

T7
146 sp
36 hit

How is embroidery useless?, chance to deal 1000-1200 extra damage each time i damage the target. Affliction locks have all kinds of damage going on all the time so its like a uber Timbals focusing crystal without taking up a trinket slot and its the best thing you can put on a cloak.

There will obviously be more patterns from future raids. Your saying that what all proffesions have now is all they r ever gonna have?

First of all. This embroidery sucks.. Why? Because it has an internal cooldown.. I believe its once in 30 seconds.. And tbh, even as affliction it doesnt proc that often.. Maybe once in a fight if you're lucky.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

its on a 45s CD but has a 50% proc rate so it pretty much procs every 45s and it can crit so it is slightly better than the 23 haste enchant which is the only other thing worth putting on a cloak

With my personal experience from this enchant, I've noticed that it does do a great deal of damage despite the CD. During a three minute fight, it proc'd 4 times for 2 crits 2 hits 1300-2900 damage. I'm going to do more testing for a full raid night and see what % of my total damage it is, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was ~2-5%. That's free damage. Haste can only give you more of a chance to get spells off, but with this, it does damage on damage. I see it proc all the time when grinding and between Immo, Incin and it procing, I kill things in under 4 seconds all the time.

It is WIN IMO.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

Tailoring atm is a bit under the weather, agreed. My tailoring is 420 right now, barely got there and have only got enough mats for another 2-3 points. In the time I have collected enough cloth to even get me here, I have also gotten through all of normal naxx, most of heroic naxx, all 5mans on normal and heroic mode, and gotten enough gear and emblems to start using emblems of heroism exclusively for heirlooms.

Right now it seems kind of worthless, although making shirts for my alts never gets old (even if I curse the fact that Tailors can't do the Big Voodoo set). Also, now I can pretend to surf by the looks of those male belfs riding their carpets (waiting till 450 so I can make the fast one).

That said, Wrath of the Lich King hasn't even been out for a month. Methinks Blizzard want to keep things interesting for us so they're releasing content (including patterns/plans) bit by bit.

I also think there's more down the line. For example the rare version of strength+defence gem design is nowhere to be found. Whether the current relatively weak position of tailoring is by design or by oversight, no-one can say for sure, but I'm also guessing more will appear once we venture into T8.

/agree

You should never make decisions based on knee-jerk reactions. We've barely scratched the surface of Wrath...patience, grasshopper.

Re: Tailor In WOTLK

I just got to 77 so started experimenting with flying. I've got the crappy flying carpet and it works in the dalaran sewers. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this? With the fast carpet you could exit from the sewers and get to anywhere before the dismounting buff takes effect. A small use for tailoring.

Ummmm, the debuff gives you 10 seconds to actually dismount so if you fly over the top on any epic mount you can get pretty much get anywhere you want to go before that happens.
