Weaponsmithing specialization

My DK is now almost maxed out in blacksmithing, and I decided to take weaponsmithing because i haven't had any trouble finding good armor yet. What I am wondering though, is there any reason to take a further specialization into Sword/Axe/Mace crafting right now? I can't seem to find anything that would allow me to craft a level 80 weapon with one of these specs. If there aren't any craftable special weapons I guess I'll just wait, I just wasn't sure if I had missed something.

Re: Weaponsmithing specialization

I took weaponsmith/swordsmith on my Prott warrior. I can safely say.. it's not worth it. The weapons you can craft are not that great..there are easier ones to get from quests and instances. IMO, go armorsmith. I wish I had.

New PTR Build Brings New Crafted Tanking Weapons | DeathKnight.info

These still don't require weapon specialization though i don't believe, let alone swordsmithing or axecrafting. But it is nice to see some 2h tank weapons. I'm guessing the BoP thing is a typo as none of the other titansteel items are BoP.

Re: Weaponsmithing specialization

Blacksmithing specialization appears to be dead. I believe Blizzard did not like people feeling they "had" to be a Blacksmith to get a good item, see Stormherald. Their solution seems to be to simply kill this aspect of the profession.

If you have a Blacksmith DK, as I'm sure many do, I suggest taking no specialization at all. I have yet to see any epic crafted gear requiring a specialization. Bringing back epic items like Stormherald is probably low on the priority list for them. If they ever do bring back these type of items make your decision then, there is really no disadvantage to doing nothing right now.

Re: Weaponsmithing specialization

Thanks Kold. I am upset that i already spent the time and money picking up weapon specialization though. I spent a lot of time getting mats for things that didn't raise my skill by the time i decided to do it. Oh well, live and learn i guess.
