Re: Professions for a new warlock
Tailoring is by far the best choice for any caster in 3.1. The proc of 250 spell power for 15 seconds (with an internal cooldown of 45 seconds) is basically 83 spell power passive if it procs the moment it is off cooldown. This is this single greatest profession buff in the game, and thus should be taken for those that only get professions to boost their raid damage output. The other profession of choice will most likely be enchanting as JCing will get worse as they introduce more epic gems, unless they make the prismatic gems (or something similar) stronger. Obviously max the 3 secondary skills as they provide a lot for you in Wrath of the Lich King unlike previous incantations of the game thus far. |

Re: Professions for a new warlock
Well tailoring will get better with the 3.1 Patch. It gets a 250 Spelldmg proc Embroidery with a 45 sec internal CD, so it is pretty much the same sdmg gain as the other professions. I would definetly go BS since it leaves you much Space for flexibility. It grants the opportunity to add 2 sockets of hit gems, therefor you can equip stronger dps gear and don't have to worry so much about your hitcap. My suggestion for the most DPS gain would be BS and JC, since the new T8 gear has pleanty of blue sockets in it. For myself i have to say i will stick to BS and ENCH because i'm too lazy ^^ |

Re: Professions for a new warlock
Stolen from EJ: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Inscription and Jewelcrafting are fine. Tailoring and Skinning are okay, but not optimal. Engineering is weak. Mining and Herbalism are useless. -- This will change in 3.1 with the buff to Tailoring, putting it in the first category, and Engineering in the second. Note: If you are hurting for cash (new server/first toon/etc) then I recommend mining+herbalism to fund your mounts, then switch to one of the above once you hit 80.
