PvP Engineering Nerf 3.1.2 (Goggles & Boots)
With the stealth detection nerf on Engineering Goggles still hot off the servers, Blizzard has now decided that Rocket Boots are still too OP (even though the duration was reduced to 2 seconds), and will no longer work in Arenas. So, the only Arena PvP benefit from Engineering is the Glove rocket and (haha, that sounds like love rocket.) the Laser Trinket (which was also nerfed recently). Oh yeah, I forgot, the remaining haste/burst trinkets/tinkers all share a cool down now; though that happened in 3.1 if I recall correctly. I'm all for not having one OP profession (or we end up with Progression guilds rocking 25 Leatherworkers for Battle Drums like in the end of The Burning Crusade), but c'mon Blizzard, was it *really* that OP? I try to refrain from crying 'QQ, nerf;' but I can't even keep hold of the Flag in WSG anymore if I use rocket boots, so I'm not really seeing the point in Engineering anymore. Get back from wipes ~2s faster? 500 damage to siege walls in WG every 60s? Please, tell me I'm crazy. Show me what advantages Engineering has now. I don't want to switch professions, but I really can't justify how lame it is becoming with every change. Re: PvP Engineering Nerf 3.1.2 (Goggles & Boots)
I've lost track of the times that I considered dropping one of my professions for Engineering for PvP. I'm glad that I didn't. The realy kicker is that Engineering is now one of the worst PvP professions available now. |

Re: PvP Engineering Nerf 3.1.2 (Goggles & Boots)
Wait what! You mean those goggles whos mats my main been farming for half a week no longer have stealth detection! I was gonna use that against a rogue friend of mine whom I have never beaten once! (With a hunter main, it's easier to make friends with rogues) I thought with these I may surprise him by seeing him earlier than usual! ![]() *sigh* Oh well, I guess I can use the titanium to make titansteel for that Mechano-Hog I've been wanting. If you want to nerf something blizzard, nerf the mat prices on those things. So long as you don't nerf the Goblin Rocket Launcher, we're good. |

Not worth taking Engineering for the Hog, it's BoE (I had a guildie craft mine since I spend way more time grinding the AH than grinding rep )

I think this is the turning point for me, I'm gonna drop Engineering finally, after 2 years, I'm fed up of the lack of love. The ONLY two things I'm gonna miss is the roflcopter, and the glove rockets... Now... Jewelcrafting, Enchanting, Tailoring or Inscription?

Re: PvP Engineering Nerf 3.1.2 (Goggles & Boots)
that would be the point of nerfing it... if you wanted to do well in pvp you had to go eng because it offered more options for detection and escape... granted eng for pve is still "bleh" but the point still stands... most of the other professions just upped your stats or dps by a few points |

Exactly. I often thought about dropping something for eng. since I enjoy pvp so much but didn't know these things when I started. I for one am actually glad they are nerfing it. To compensate they should do something extra for pve though. |

Re: PvP Engineering Nerf 3.1.2 (Goggles & Boots)
Blizzard had a lot of dramas in the The Burning Crusade days when basically, certain professions were essentially required for certain activities. In Wrath of the Lich King they've decided that this will never be the case again(at least for the moment). So no, engineering wasn't that OP, but it was necessary to be competitive in PvP and that's no no by blizzard's new rules. It doesn't need to be a dramatic boost, just a measurable boost over other professions. If you see the vast majority of top tier anything having the same professions there's a nerf coming. |
