Enchanting vs Herbalism?

So, what do you think?
I have 450 Herbalism and I'm thinking to change it to enchanting.
My 1st professions is tailoring, level ~440.
Reason why I would take ench over herb is ring enchants + free disenchanting.
What do you think?

I wouldn't bother unless you have a lot of gold already. Enchanting is quite a money sink, while herbalism makes tons of cash (at least on my server).

Man listen to Coud. I did it and have regretted it ever since. The amount of time and money that you will spend will be extraordinary. I still have not made it to 450. Nor have I yet to get my epic flying due to my money going to enchanting.

From what I've read ench is a money sink until you get to 450. Before that I can attest. It's painful to level. I'm at 410 and stopping until I get my epic flight. Actually its amazing how much g ench takes. I've been 80 for about 6 weeks and always been broke. I stopped leveling my ench for two weeks and now I have about 2kg. Hey if you don't mind spending 50g+ for 1 level of ench then feel free to switch. I knew I shoulda gone with jc...

My rogue is only at 381 enchanting or something (of course, I don't really play him either, so bad example). Yes, enchanting is expensive to level. I actually found the worst/most expensive profession to level is blacksmithing though. I tried it with my pally and gave up and took alchemy instead. Then I tried it with my DK but gave up again and took skinning for the money. Just as Mavric240, I don't yet have my epic flying skill or mount for any of my toons. Of course, last night I bought Darkmoon Card: Death - Thottbot: World of Warcraft on the AH too (for a ridiculous 1800 gold ). I actually still have enough money for my epic flying, but I am holding out until the patch so I can get it at a discount with Honor Hold.

Sorry to threadjack. Yes, enchanting is expensive. I would not waste your time on it. Just my opinion though.

Well, if you are serious about raiding, I would dump herbalism. You might want to do JC or inscription if you don't want to dump the money into leveling enchanting.

I agree, I have Enchant and BS on my lock. I get ring enchants, plus 2 extra gem slots for an extra 76 spell power.

However, you need an alt if you're going to run your lock with no gathering skills. I have a DK that I leveled for mining and jewelcrafting.

Re: Enchanting vs Herbalism?

Also with herbalism as you level it you get an instant heal after every 3 min. Since you are constantly running around looking for mobs you find herbs along the way too.
