BIG Engineering changes

Rejoice! or despair if you hadn't the foresight to be an engineer.

I searched and found no discussion of these major changes to engineering that are upcoming so here we go.

Engineering
  • Added a new Mind Amplification Dish attachment for helmets, allowing engineers to control other humanoid targets. Some restrictions apply: does not work in Arenas, dish sometimes reverses targets, unable to stack with other stat-improving head enchantments and makes your helmet look... stylish?
  • Added a schematic for a Goblin Welding Beam that can heal friendly mechanical or vehicle units.
  • Alarm-o-Bot functionality changed. Materials required reduced.
  • Box of Bombs no longer requires an anvil.
  • The Cobalt Frag Bomb now incapacitates enemies within a 3-yard radius. A short cast time was added, but they are usable while moving. This change applies to any Cobalt Frag Bombs already created. The existing recipe now makes 3 at a time.
  • Engineers can now learn to create a portable Wormhole Generator for Northrend. The Wormhole allows them to travel to different locations in Northrend, although the locations are sometimes in dangerous places.
  • Increased benefits from Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket and Reticulated Armor Webbing glove modifications.
  • Increased the passive bonuses provided by Springy Arachnoweave, Flexweave Underlay and Nitro Boosts.
  • Increased siege damage caused by Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge.
  • Mote Extractor now has innate tracking for gas clouds while it is in your inventory. Tracking of gas clouds has been removed from goggles.
  • A new repair bot has been added, and his name is Jeeves. He is the ultimate gentleman robot butler, able to perform all the mundane tasks of repairing, selling and buying junk for your entire raid. Additionally, he can open bank boxes for skilled engineers (350+). Jeeves is not destroyed when used, but due to pressing engagements, can only be summoned once an hour. The schematic for this handsome robot was said to be hidden within the parts of another robot – hoping to be found by an engineer one day.
  • Nitro Boosts: Now have a 5-second duration.
  • Potion Injectors now increase the amount gained by 25% when used by engineers. Quantity produced by recipes for Runic Healing and Mana Injectors has been increased.
  • Reduced the materials needed to create all engineering Dragonlings, and reduced their cooldowns, although they still cannot be used in Arenas.
  • Significantly reduced the cooldown on MOLL-E.
  • The Spynocular belt attachment has been changed to a Frag Belt. The Frag Belt periodically produces a Cobalt Frag Bomb that can be used from the belt every 10 minutes (never runs out!).
  • A Steam-Powered Auctioneer has been added to the Dalaran Like Clockwork engineering shop, allowing access to one's faction Auction House. The Steam-Powered Auctioneer was programmed with a superiority chip, and will only interact with Grand Master engineers.
  • Transporter devices are no longer classified as trinkets and can be used directly from your inventory.
  • The Ultrasafe Bullet Machine and Saronite Arrow Maker schematics have been simplified to create a full stack of the appropriate ammunition. No longer requires an anvil. Reduced the materials required to make this ammunition.

Yep, that's right, engineers look to have AH access in Dalaran, bank access wherever they want, and mailbox access wherever they want on a much shorter cooldown. And new/buffed items including mind-control cap and ports to Northrend.

Eat your heart out JCer's.

P.S. Word on the street is Jeeves (remote bank-access bot) will be easy to obtain, dropping off multiple mechanical mobs throughout Northrend and instances.

P.P.S All subject to change of course.

Re: BIG Engineering changes

Been stuck on 385 engineering for about three weeks because my DK/Hunter are the miners and I haven't been playing them. This is great news, though. My own personal robot, an AH in Dalaran, and one of my favorite things: the mote extractor will detect gas clouds. I have kept my goggles despite having possible upgrades purely because of the gas cloud detection.

Now, if only I could find that Dalaran Lag Eliminater schematic...

Re: BIG Engineering changes

RomaGoth- there is an engineering item you can attach to either your belt or helm & it detects gas clouds. You don't have to change helms/belts etc just attach it & its there permanatly. It doesn't replace the enchant or gem or anything, its like an addon but only engineers can have it. It also acts like a spyglass- you can use it to see long distances as well.
I'll look it up next time I'm on my warrior & post it here for you.

That would be great. I know in the next patch Blizz is removing the gas cloud detection component from the engineering goggles, but until then I felt compelled to keep them.

Re: BIG Engineering changes

Hi sorry I was a little slow getting the info.

Belt-Clipped Spynoculars - Spells - WOWDB

The gas clouds will simply show on your minimap the same as if you were wearing the helm-I can't even remember where I put the helm-may have sold it. lol
To use these as a spyglass simply put the belt icon on your task bar or open you character pane & right click on your belt. To cancel the spyglass effect simply take a step in any direction.

Re: BIG Engineering changes

Just to add. This patch renewed my interest in Engineering, (odd, since I am one) and I discovered Saronite Bomb is off the gcd and not negligible damage in the right situation. They also happen to be quite cheap overall and are basically free damage for engineers who plan just a little bit in their use.

In AoE (Freya, XT, Aurialiya, etc they can be quite good) and in single target they are an undeniable dps increase for a skilled player if you want to use them since they have no gcd. I like them right after CoD as destruction since they share the same 1 minute cooldown.

Just throwing that out there to current and would be engineers. At least consider the bombs and decide if you can make them fit in to your playstyle.

Just don't forget to take a step BACKWARDS in order to cancel the spyglass effect, at least if you are on a high cliff or ledge. Yes, I know from experience.

I am a tailor as well, and have found leveling it to not be very enjoyable this time around. I remember in The Burning Crusade how much I was looking forward to creating my FSW set, but this time....meh.
