Enchanting and Wands 101 help for the teeny gnome
First off, awesome forum! :D Well, I've recently obtained a massive summoning wand of destructive DOOM... ok, it's the Elven wand I got from doing the quest on Dark Shore in Bashal'Aran. ;) I'm currently a level 14 gnome warlock and was wondering just how in the heck to use this thing... I've equiped it so that I'm holding it and put it down on my action bar but nothing's happening? Keep in mind that I'm completely winging it with the warlock info (or was until I found thottbot.com and this forum in the last week, wee!) so I'm at a loss as to how to begin to use wands. Any help would be grand.  Also, by virtue of my Guildmates and my NE hunter alt giving me tons of wool, linen and green stuff (I didn't know what 'green' items were good for until two days ago, again thanks to your forum ;) ), I'm now up to 40 on my enchanting and 110 on tailoring. My question is, how do I enchant something that's on one of my Guildsmen? They can't send it to me if it's soulbound, I don't think and I don't know if they can be wearing it while I enchant. Do they need to remake whatever chest item they're wearing or something? Anyway, thanks so much for any help you can give!

1. Open up "Ability Book (think the default key is "p") and drag the Wand/Shoot icon to hotkey bar. Equip "Ubah Wand of Destructive Wizardly Godliness_047A" in the ranged slot, target "random mob_001", and hit button...voila, "random mob_001" just resisted your wand shot. Rinse, wash, repeat, ad nauseum until skill maxed. 2. To enchant items from another player have them place in the "Shall Not Trade" window in the lower rt hand portion of the trade window. You may then target and enchant. Hehee...GL.

To use a wand you have to use the 'shoot' ability. The shoot ability is located in the general abilities pane. (hit 'P' to bring up the abilities pane) Drag the shoot icon into the hotkey spot of your choice on the toolbar. Equip your wand in your ranged slot and click the shoot button. Your character will then fire her wand. As for enchanting souldbound items, in the trade windwo there is a small box at the bottom where the words "will not be traded" are found next to it. In this box your guildmates can put their soulbound items they wish to have enchanted. When it's in this special box you can do your enchanting work on it. So this means you have to meet them somplace as you can't do it over the mail. Hope that helps..

:lol: Thanks so much, both of you! ;) Doh, that's what I get for trying to do this at 1am... I had the wrong icon on the action bar. :oops: I went from 1 to 60 in wands in one gnoll quest, hahaaa. Gotta love the *poink*poink* sound it makes. Is it a good weapon? Seems like 70% of the shots were deflected.... can't wait to get/make a nicer one. I can't practice enchanting my Guildmates though... stupid boat is still broken and we're in different kingdoms.

Resist rate is tied to your skill, apparently. You will do better as skill rises to conincide with level. Of course this is in relation to your targets level, too...if I recall correctly.

isn't there an NPC who you can talk to? blizzard said they were putting one in place that would teleport you between continents until the boat was fixed. |
