A Guide to Effective Soulstoning
Introduction and assumptions If you've ever been unsure on who to soulstone when, or have ever been involved in a 'debate' between 2 classes wishing to benefit from this wonderful self-res, this is the guide for you. This guide is written from a strictly PvE experience, for 2 reasons:

Re: A Guide to Effective Soulstoning
If you die every 10 minutes, you should not be in the instance if it is on trash. Also, that was a example.. even if the MT was not AFK, everyone would not be up and then you would usually wipe again. And if you think that only having one soulstone up on one person limiting a lock usefulnes, you are dead wrong. If you have all 3 warlocks put SS up and you wipe on a boss, you have to run back and buff and beat respawn and then all that jazz. But if you have a soulsotne everytime you guys dont wipe, you wont have to run back. It saves ALOT of time altogether. Thats, of course, if you do wipe. But if you consider it limiting warlock's usefulness and the guild leader does, then obviously he does not know what he is doing. Warlocks put out insane dps, enough to cover there and having a simple soulstone on a pally at all times makes your raid go by faster. Trust me, i have had a lot of raiding experience otherwise I would not be here typing this reply. |

Re: A Guide to Effective Soulstoning
Well, lets agree to disagree ![]() You are suggesting we SS for wipe recovery without failure, fair enough, if it works for you. Last night I SS'd a resto druid on Supremus and he did in fact die (he runs slower you know) but was able to use his battle res after he self-ressed. 2 in-combat resses for the price of one and a successful 1-shot kill. Also last night, we soulstoned a pally on RoS so that midway into Phase 2 they can DI a healer and we have 2 healers with mana for the whole phase. Another successful kill. Tonight, we go for Gorefiend and all of the locks will soulstone the first critical players to be ghosted so we have them back for the last 60%. None of these scenarios will make or break the kill attempt, and none of the SS's are for wipe recovery, yet (in my opinion) each of them is a valid use of a Warlocks soulstone for that encounter. So to summarise, I stand by the concept of the guide: To soulstone for wipe recovery ONLY is limiting the usefulness of this spell too much. |
